Parallel universe (fiction)

Parallel universe or alternative reality is a self-contained separate reality coexisting with
our own. A specific group of parallel universes is called a multiverse, although this term can also be used to describe the possible parallel universes that comprise physical reality. While the terms "parallel universe" and "alternative reality" are generally synonymous and can be used interchangeably
in most cases, there is sometimes an additional connotation implied with the term "alternative reality" that implies that
the reality is a variant of our own. The term "parallel universe" is more general, without any connotations implying a relationship
(or lack thereof) with our own universe. A universe where the very laws of nature are different (for example, it has no relativistic
limitations and the speed of light can be exceeded) would in general count as a parallel universe but not an alternative reality
Introduction
Fantasy has long borrowed the idea of "another world" from myth, legend and religion. Heaven, Hell, Olympus, Valhalla are all “alternative universes” different from the familiar material realm. Modern fantasy often presents the concept as a series of planes of existence where the laws of nature differ, allowing magical phenomena of some sort on some planes. This concept was also found in ancient Hindu mythology, in texts such as the Puranas, which expressed an infinite number of universes, each with its own gods.[1] In other cases, in both fantasy and science fiction, a parallel universe is a single other material reality, and its
co-existence with ours is a rationale to bring a protagonist from the author's reality into the fantasy's reality, such as
in The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis or even the beyond-the-reflection travel in the two main works of Lewis Carroll. Or this single other reality can invade our own, as when Margaret Cavendish's English heroine sends submarines and "birdmen" armed with "fire stones" back through the portal from the Blazing
World to Earth and wreaks havoc on England's enemies. In dark fantasy or horror the parallel world is often a hiding place for unpleasant things, and often the protagonist is forced to confront
effects of this other world leaking into his own, as in most of the work of H. P. Lovecraft and the Doom computer game series. In such stories, the nature of this other reality is often left mysterious, known only by its effect
on our own world.
Often the alternative worlds theme in science fiction is framed by postulating that every historical event
spawns a new universe for every possible outcome, resulting in a number of alternate histories. This literary interpretation is sometimes rooted in the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics formulated by the physicist Hugh Everett in 1957, an alternative to the Copenhagen interpretation originally formulated by Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg around 1927. (See: multiverse.) This kind of alternative universe is often the backdrop of stories involving time travel and is often used to rationalize the logical paradoxes that arise when an author allows characters to travel backward in time. (See: grandfather paradox.)
The concept also arises outside the framework of quantum mechanics, as is found in Jorge Luis Borges short story El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan ("The Garden of Forking Paths"), published in 1941 before the many-worlds interpretation had been invented. In the story, a Sinologist discovers a manuscript by a Chinese writer where the same tale is recounted in several ways, often contradictory,
and then explains to his visitor (the writer's grandson) that his relative conceived time as a "garden of forking paths",
where things happen in parallel in infinitely branching ways. One of the first SF examples is John Wyndham's Random Quest about a man who, on awaking after a laboratory accident, finds himself in a parallel universe where WWII never happened with consequences for his professional and personal life, giving him information he can use on
return to his own universe.
While this is a common treatment in SF, it is by no means the only presentation of the idea, even in hard science fiction. Sometimes the parallel universe bears no historical relationship to any other world; as in the novel Raft by Stephen Baxter, which posits a reality where the gravitational constant is much larger than in our universe. (Note, however, that Baxter explains later in Vacuum Diagrams that the protagonists in Raft are descended from people who came from the Xeelee Sequence universe.)
One motif is that the time flow in a parallel universe may be very different, so that a character returning
to one might find the time passed very differently for those he left behind. This is found in folklore: King Herla visited
Fairy and returned three centuries later; although only some of his men crumbled to dust on dismounting, Herla and his men
who did not dismount were trapped on horseback, this being one folkloric account of the origin of the Wild Hunt.[2] C. S. Lewis made use of this in the Chronicles of Narnia; indeed, a character points out to two skeptics that there is no need for the time between the worlds to match up, but
it would be very odd for the girl who claims to have visited a parallel universe to have dreamed up such a different time
flow.[3]
The division between science fiction and fantasy becomes fuzzier than usual when dealing with stories that
explicitly leave the universe we are familiar with, especially when our familiar universe is portrayed as a subset of a multiverse.
Picking a genre becomes less a matter of setting, and more a matter of theme and emphasis; the parts of the story the author
wishes to explain and how they are explained. Narnia is clearly a fantasy, and the TV series Sliders is clearly science fiction, but works like the World of Tiers series tend to occupy a much broader middle ground
Uses in science fiction
While technically incorrect, and looked down upon by hard science-fiction fans and authors, the idea of another
“dimension” has become synonymous with the term “parallel universe”. The usage is particularly common
in movies, television and comic books and much less so in modern prose science fiction.
In written science fiction, “new dimensions” more commonly — and more accurately —
refer to additional coordinate axes, beyond the three spatial axes with which we are familiar. By proposing travel along these extra axes, which
are not normally perceptible, the traveler can reach worlds that are otherwise unreachable and invisible.
In 1884, Edwin A. Abbott wrote the seminal novel exploring this concept called Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions. It describes a world of two dimensions inhabited by living squares, triangles, and circles, called Flatland,
as well as Pointland (0 dimensions), Lineland (1 dimension), and Spaceland (three dimensions) and finally posits the possibilities
of even greater dimensions. Isaac Asimov, in his foreword to the Signet Classics 1984 edition, described Flatland as "The best introduction one can find into the manner of perceiving dimensions."
In 1895, The Time Machine by H. G. Wells used time as an additional “dimension” in this sense, taking the four-dimensional model of classical physics and interpreting time as a space like dimension in which humans could travel with the right equipment.
There are many examples where authors have explicitly created additional spatial dimensions for their characters
to travel in, to reach parallel universes. Douglas Adams, in the last book of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, Mostly Harmless, uses the idea of probability as an extra axis in addition to the classical four dimensions of space and time. Though, according to the novel, they're not
really parallel universes at all but only a model to capture the continuity of space, time and probability. Robert A. Heinlein, in The Number of the Beast, postulated a six-dimensional universe. In addition to the three spatial dimensions, he invoked symmetry to add two new temporal dimensions, so there would be two sets of three. Like the fourth dimension of H. G.
Wells’ "Time Traveller", these extra dimensions can be traveled by persons using the right equipment
Hyperspace

Perhaps the most common use of the concept of a parallel universe in science fiction is the concept of hyperspace.
Used in science fiction, the concept of “hyperspace” often refers to a parallel universe that can be used as a
faster-than-light shortcut for interstellar travel. Rationales for this form of hyperspace vary from work to work, but the two common elements are:
- at least some (if not all) locations in the hyperspace universe map to locations in our universe, providing the "entry"
and "exit" points for travelers.
- the travel time between two points in the hyperspace universe is much shorter than the time to travel to the analogous
points in our universe. This can be because of a different speed of light, different speed at which time passes, or the analogous
points in the hyperspace universe are just much closer to each other.
Sometimes "hyperspace" is used to refer to the concept of additional coordinate axes. In this model, the universe is thought
to be "crumpled" in some higher spatial dimension and that traveling in this higher spatial dimension, a ship can move vast
distances in the common spatial dimensions. An analogy is to crumple a newspaper into a ball and stick a needle straight through,
the needle will make widely spaced holes in the two-dimensional surface of the paper. While this idea invokes a "new dimension",
it is not an example of a parallel universe. It is a more scientifically plausible use of hyperspace. (See wormhole.)
While use of hyperspace is common, it is mostly used as a plot device and thus of secondary importance. While a parallel universe may be invoked by the concept, the nature of the universe is
not often explored. So, while stories involving hyperspace might be the most common use of the parallel universe concept in
fiction, it is not the most common source of fiction about parallel universes.
In the film "Forbidden Planet" the commander of the spaceship apologises for his crew, saying "My men have spent months in hyperspace"
Time travel and alternate history

The most common use of parallel universes in science fiction, when the concept is central to the story, is as a backdrop
and/or consequence of time travel. A seminal example of this idea is in Fritz Leiber’s novel, The Big Time where there’s a war across time between two alternate futures each side manipulating history to create a timeline that results into their own world. Time-travelers in fiction often accidentally
or deliberately create alternate histories, such as in The Guns of the South by Harry Turtledove where the Confederate Army is given the technology to produce AK-47 rifles and ends up winning the American Civil War. (However, Ward Moore reversed this staple of alternate history fiction in his Bring the Jubilee (1953), where an alternative world where the Confederate States of America won the Battle of Gettysburg and the American Civil War is destroyed after an historian and time traveller from the defeated United States of that world travels back to the scene
of the battle and inadvertently changes the result so that the North wins that battle.) The alternate history novel 1632 by Eric Flint explicitly states, albeit briefly in a prologue, that the time travelers in the novel (an entire town from West Virginia) have created a new and separate universe when they're transported into the midst of the Thirty Years War in 17th century Germany. (This sort of thing is known as an ISOT among alternate history fans, after S.M. Stirling's Island in the Sea of Time: an ISOT is when territory or a large group of people is transported back in time to another historical period or place.[citation needed]
The concept of "sidewise" time travel, a term taken from Murray Leinster's "Sidewise in Time," is often used to allow characters to pass through many different alternate histories, all descendant from some common branch
point. Often worlds that are similar to each other are considered closer to each other in terms of this sidewise travel. For
example, a universe where World War II ended differently would be “closer” to us than one where Imperial China
colonized the New World in the 15th century. H. Beam Piper used this concept, naming it "paratime" and writing a series of stories involving the Paratime Police who regulated travel
between these alternative realities as well as the technology to do so. Keith Laumer used the same concept of "sideways" time travel in his 1962 novel Worlds of the Imperium. More recently, Frederik Pohl used the idea in his novel The Coming of the Quantum Cats which is explicitly based on upon a human-scale reading of the "many worlds" interpretation of quantum mechanics, postulating that every historical event spawns a new universe for every possible outcome

Fantasy authors often want to bring characters from the author's (and the reader's) reality into their created world. Before
the mid-20th century, this was most often done by hiding fantastic worlds within hidden parts of the author's own universe.
Peasants who seldom if ever traveled far from their villages could not conclusively say that it was impossible that an ogre or other fantastical beings could live an hour away, but increasing geographical knowledge meant that such locations had
to be farther and farther off.[4] Characters in the author's world could board a ship and find themselves on a fantastic island, as Jonathan Swift does in Gulliver's Travels or in the 1949 novel Silverlock by John Myers Myers, or be sucked up into a tornado and land in Oz. These "lost world" stories can be seen as geographic equivalents of a "parallel universe", as the worlds portrayed are separate from our own,
and hidden to everyone except those who take the difficult journey there. The geographic "lost world" can blur into a more
explicit "parallel universe" when the fantasy realm overlaps a section of the "real" world, but is much larger inside than
out, as in Robert Holdstock's novel Mythago Wood.
After the mid-20th century, perhaps influenced by ideas from science fiction, perhaps because exploration had made many
places on the map too clear to write "Here there be dragons", many fantasy worlds became completely separate from the author's world.[5] A common trope is a portal or artifact that connects worlds together, prototypical examples being the wardrobe in C. S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, or the sigil in James Branch Cabell's The Cream of the Jest. In Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away, Chihiro Ogino and her parents walk through a long tunnel into the spirit world. The main difference between this type of story and the
"lost world" above, is that the fantasy realm can only be reached by certain people, or at certain times, or after following
certain rituals, or with the proper artifact.
In some cases, physical travel is not even possible, and the character in our reality travels in a dream or some other
altered state of consciousness. Examples include the Dream Cycle stories by H. P. Lovecraft or the Thomas Covenant stories of Stephen R. Donaldson. Often, stories of this type have as a major theme the nature of reality itself, questioning if the dream-world can have
the same "reality" as the waking world. Science fiction often employs this theme (usually without the dream-world being "another"
universe) in the ideas of cyberspace and virtual reality
Between the worlds
Most stories in this mold simply transport a character from the real world into the fantasy world where the bulk of the action takes place. Whatever gate is used (such as the tollbooth in The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, or the mirror in Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass) is left behind for the duration of the story, until the end, and then only if the protagonists will return.
However, in a few cases the interaction between the worlds is an important element, so that the focus
is not on one world or the other, but on both, and their interaction. After Rick Cook introduced a computer programmer into a high fantasy world, his wizardry series steadily acquired more interactions between this world and ours. In Aaron Allston's Doc Sidhe our "grim world" is paralleled by a "fair world" where the elves live and history echoes ours. A major portion of the
plot deals with preventing a change in interactions between the worlds. Margaret Ball, in No Earthly Sunne, depicts the interaction of our world with Faerie, and the efforts of the Queen of Faerie to deal with the slow drifting
apart of Earth and Faerie. Poul Anderson depicts Hell as a parallel universe in Operation Chaos, and the need to transfer equivalent amounts of mass between the worlds explains why a changeling is left for a kidnapped child. Interactions between magical and scientific universes, and the protagonists'
attempts to restore and maintain the balance between them, are major plot points in Piers Anthony's Apprentice Adept series; he depicts two worlds, the "SF" planet Proton and the fantasy-based Phaze, such that every person born in either
world has a physical duplicate on the other world. Only when one duplicate has died can the other cross between the worlds.
Several of his Xanth novels also revolve around interactions between the magical realm of Xanth and "Mundania".
Multiple worlds, rather than a pair, increase the importance of the relationships. In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, there are only our world and Narnia, but in other of C. S. Lewis's works, there are hints of other worlds, and in The Magician's Nephew, the Wood between the Worlds shows many possibilities, and the plot is governed by transportation between worlds, and the effort
to right problems stemming from them. In Andre Norton's Witch World, begun with a man from Earth being transported to this world, gates frequently lead to other worlds
— or come from them. While an abundance of illusions, disguises, and magic that repels attention make certain parts
of Witch World look like parallel worlds, some are clearly parallel in that time runs differently in them, and such gates
pose a repeated problem in Witch World.
Linking rooms of various types (not all actual rooms) can hook together any number of worlds. The characters may chose
only one, but the choice is all important in determining the worlds
Fantasy multiverses
The idea of a multiverse is as fertile a subject for fantasy as it is for science fiction, allowing for epic settings and godlike
protagonists. Among the most epic and far-ranging fantasy "multiverses" is that of Michael Moorcock. Like many authors after him, Moorcock was inspired by the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, saying:
It was an idea in the air, as most of these are, and I would have come across a reference to it
in New Scientist (one of my best friends was then editor) ... [or] physicist friends would have been talking about
it. ... Sometimes what happens is that you are imagining these things in the context of fiction while the physicists and mathematicians
are imagining them in terms of science. I suspect it is the romantic imagination working, as it often does, perfectly efficiently
in both the arts and the sciences.[citation needed]
Unlike many science-fiction interpretations, Moorcock's Eternal Champion stories go far beyond alternate history to include mythic and sword and sorcery settings as well as some worlds more similar to our own. However, the Eternal Champion himself is incarnate
in all of them.
Roger Zelazny used a mythic cosmology in his Chronicles of Amber series. His protagonist is a member of the royal family of Amber, whose members represent a godlike pantheon ruling over a prototypical universe that represents Order. All other universes are increasingly distorted
"shadows" of it, ending finally at the other extreme, Chaos, which is the complete negation of the prototype. Travel between
these "shadow" universes is only possible by beings descended from the blood of this pantheon. Those "of the blood" can walk
through Shadow, imagining any possible reality and then walk to it, making their environment more similar to their desire
as they go. It is argued between the characters whether these "shadows" even exist before they're imagined by a member of
the royal family of Amber, or if the "shadows'" existence can be seen as an act of godlike creation.
In the World of Tiers novels by Philip José Farmer, the idea of godlike protagonists is even more explicit. The background of the stories is a multiverse
where godlike beings have created a number of pocket universes that represent their own desires. Our own world is part of this series, but interestingly our own universe
is revealed to be much smaller than it appears, ending at the edge of the solar system.
There are multiverses also in Warcraft universe, in The Chronicles of Narnia, Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, and in Diana Wynne Jones's Chrestomanci, Howl's Moving Castle and Deep Secret books and in her standalone book A Sudden Wild Magic
Fictional universe as alternative universe

There are many examples of the meta-fictional idea of having the author's created universe (or any author's universe) rise to the same level of "reality"
as the universe we're familiar with. The theme is present in works as diverse as Myers' Silverlock and Heinlein’s
Number of the Beast. Fletcher Pratt and L. Sprague de Camp took the character Harold Shea in the Incompleat Enchanter series through the worlds of Norse myth, Edmund Spenser's Faerie Queene, Ludovico Ariosto's Orlando Furioso, and the Kalevala[6]— without ever quite settling whether writers created these parallel worlds by writing these works, or received
impressions from the worlds and wrote them down. In an interlude set in "Xanadu", a character claims that the universe is dangerous because the poem went unfinished, but whether this
was his misapprehension or not is not established.
Some fictional approaches definitively establish the independence of the parallel world, sometimes
by having the world differ from the book's account; other approaches have works of fiction create and affect the parallel
world: L. Sprague de Camp's Solomon's Stone, taking place on an astral plane, is populated by the daydreams of mundane people, and in Rebecca Lickiss's Eccentric Circles, an elf is grateful to Tolkien for transforming elves from dainty little creatures. These stories often place the author, or authors
in general, in the same position as Zelazny's characters in Amber. Questioning, in a literal fashion, if writing is an act
of creating a new world, or an act of discovery of a pre-existing world.
Occasionally, this approach becomes self-referential, treating the literary universe of the work itself
as explicitly parallel to the universe where the work was created. Stephen King's seven-volume Dark Tower series hinges upon the existence of multiple parallel worlds, many of which are King's own literary creations. Ultimately
the characters become aware that they are only "real" in King's literary universe, and even travel to a world — twice
— in which (again, within the novel) they meet Stephen King and alter events in the real Stephen King's world outside
of the books
Elfland

Elfland, or Faerie, the otherworldly home not only of elves and fairies but goblins, trolls, and other folkloric creatures, has an ambiguous appearance in folklore.
On one hand, the land often appears to be continuous to ordinary land. Thomas the Rhymer might, on being taken by the Queen of Faerie, be taken on a road like one leading to Heaven or Hell:

However, others have found fairies and elves with greater ease. Sir Orfeo discovered the king who had kidnapped his wife by wandering in wilderness. Others have found them in
elf hills near the homes, which digging could violate. They have been found in fairy circles, dancing in apparently ordinary
woods, or riding through ordinary lands.
This is not exclusive to English or French folklore. In Norse mythology, Elfland (Alfheim) was also the name of what today is the Swedish province of Bohuslän. In the sagas, it said that the people of this petty kingdom were more beautiful than other people,
as they were related to the elves, showing that not only the territory was associated with elves, but also the race of its people.
While sometimes folklore seems to show fairy intrusion into human lands — "Tam Lin" does not show any otherworldly aspects about the land in which the confrontation takes place —
at other times the otherworldly aspects are clear. Most frequently, time can flow differently for those trapped by the fairy
dance than in the lands they come from; although, in an additional complication, it may only be an appearance, as many returning
from Faerie, such as Oisín, have found that time "catches up" with them as soon as they have contact with ordinary lands.
Fantasy writers have taken up the ambiguity. Some writers depict the land of the elves as a full-blown
parallel universe, with portals the only entry — as in Josepha Sherman's Prince of the Sidhe series or Esther Friesner's Elf Defense — and others have depicted it as the next land over, possibly difficult to reach for magical reasons — Robin McKinley's "The Stolen Princess" in The Door in the Hedge, Hope Mirrlees's Lud-in-the-Mist, or Lord Dunsany's The King of Elfland's Daughter. In some cases, the boundary between Elfland and more ordinary lands is not fixed. Not only the inhabitants but Faerie
itself can pour into more mundane regions
Other media
Television
The idea of parallel universes have received treatment in a number of television series, usually as
a single story or episode in a more general science fiction or fantasy storyline.
The most widely known and imitated example is the original Star Trek episode entitled Mirror, Mirror. The episode introduced an alternative version of the Star Trek universe where the main characters were barbaric and cruel to the point of being evil. The way Star Trek
executed the concept was deeply influential on subsequent treatments. Enough so, that when the parallel universe concept is
parodied, it is often this Star Trek episode that's being referenced. Two recent examples are from South Park in the episode Spookyfish where the "evil" universe double of Cartman sports a beard, like the alternative version of Mr. Spock in the Mirror, Mirror episode. In addition, while the "good" universe's Cartman is the most obnoxious
character, the "evil" one is pleasant and agreeable. Another animated series, Futurama, had an episode where the cast travels between "Universe A" and "Universe 1" via boxes containing each universe, and
one of the major jokes is an extended argument between the two sets of characters over which set were the "evil" ones.
One of the earliest television plots to feature parallel time was a 1970 storyline on soap opera Dark Shadows. Vampire Barnabas Collins found a room in Collinwood which served as a portal to parallel time, and he entered the room
in order to escape from his current problems. A year later, the show again traveled to parallel time, the setting this time
being 1841.
Sometimes a television series will use parallel universes as an on-going subplot. This happened as
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Enterprise elaborated on the premise of the original series' "Mirror" universe and developed multi-episode story arcs based on the
premise. Other examples are the science fiction series Stargate SG-1, the fantasy/horror series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural and the romance/fantasy Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Following the precedent set by Star Trek these story arcs show alternative universes that have turned out "worse"
than the "original" universe: in Stargate SG-1 the first encountered parallel reality featured Earth being overwhelmed
by an unstoppable Goa'uld onslaught; in Buffy, two episodes concern a timeline in which Buffy came to Sunnydale too late to stop the vampires from taking control; Lois & Clark repeatedly visits an alternative
universe that contains a Clark Kent whose parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent died when he was ten years of age, and whose Lois Lane is apparently dead. Clark eventually becomes Superman, with help from the 'original' Lois Lane, but
he is immediately revealed as Clark Kent and so has no life of his own.
In addition to following Star Trek's lead, showing the "evil" variants of the main storyline
gives the writers an opportunity to show what is at stake by portraying the worst that could happen and the consequences if
the protagonists fail or the importance of a characters presence. The latter could also be seen as the point of the alternative
reality portrayed in the movie It's a Wonderful Life (see below).
There have been relatively few series where parallel universes were central to the series itself.
Two examples are the short-lived 1980s series Otherworld which transported a family from our world to an alternative Earth; and Sliders, where the characters travel across a series of "alternative" Earths, trying to get back to their home universe. In 1986,
Disney planned to make an animated children's show about interdimensional travel called Fluppy Dogs, but only the pilot episode was ever produced.
The third season of the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! GX features multiple dimensions and the main villain plots to bring all of them together and rule them
all.
The manga series Dragon Ball involves a storyline about a time-traveler who attempts to save Earth's future from killer androids.
However, time travel doesn't allow one to alter future events but rather creates a "branch" universe where the changes occur,
while the original time line is left intact. The one traveling back in time cannot save their own future, but can create an
alternate reality in which the danger does not exist.
Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego featured a segment with a parallel universe in season 2.
Parallel universes are also mentioned in the new series of Doctor Who in Series 2, particularly the episodes The Age of Steel and Rise of the Cybermen, where the TARDIS falls through the time vortex into a parallel universe, which is described by the Doctor as "the same, only a little bit different". The Doctor said that Time Lords had control of parallel universes, and that you could "pop over and be back in time for tea!", but after

It is also mentioned in Army of Ghosts and Doomsday, where Rose Tyler falls into the parallel universe previously visited in The Age of Steel and Rise of the Cybermen, after the "walls close". It is also mentioned when the Doctor is speaking to Captain Jack Harkness about Rose Tyler in the episode Utopia, during Series 3. In the episode Turn Left, an alternate timeline is created when Donna does not meet the Doctor leading to his death. Also, Rose finds a way to
cross back into this universe, also stating at all the universes were in danger.
In the Red Dwarf episode Parallel Universe The crew of Red Dwarf travel to a parallel universe where they have female opposites, except Cat, whose
opposite is a dog.

Movies
The most famous treatment of the alternative universe concept in film could be considered the The Wizard of Oz, which portrays a parallel world, famously separating the magical realm of the Land of Oz from the mundane world by filming it in Technicolor while filming the scenes set in Kansas in sepia.
A later example is the Frank Capra movie, It's a Wonderful Life where the main character George Bailey is shown by a guardian angel the city of Pottersville, which was George Bailey's hometown of Bedford Falls as it would have been if he had never existed. Another notable depiction of a parallel universe in movies
is the second film in the Back to the Future trilogy (1985, 1989) by Robert Zemeckis, starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, showing an accidentally created alternative present and future. Like It's a Wonderful Life, The Big Time, and many other time travel stories using this
conceit, it is clear that these alternative presents/futures are mutually exclusive with the protagonists' own — so,
strictly speaking, the universes aren't parallel in that they cannot co-exist, rather they oscillate between one or
the other.
Another common use of the theme is as a prison for villains or demons. The idea is used in the first two Superman movies starring Christopher Reeve where Kryptonian villains were sentenced to the Phantom Zone from where they eventually escaped. An almost exactly parallel use of the idea is presented in the campy
cult film The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, where the "8th dimension" is essentially a "phantom zone" used to imprison the villainous Red Lectroids. Uses in horror films include the 1986 film From Beyond (based on the H. P. Lovecraft story of the same name) where a scientific experiment induces the experimenters to perceive aliens from a parallel universe, with bad results. The 1987 John Carpenter film Prince of Darkness is based on the premise that the Christian Satan is actually an alien being that is the son of something even more evil and powerful, trapped in another
universe. The protagonists accidentally free "Satan", who then attempts to release his "father."
Some films present parallel realities that are actually different contrasting versions of the narrative
itself. Commonly this motif is presented as different points of view revolving around a central (but sometimes unknowable)
"truth", the seminal example being Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon. Conversely, often in film noir and crime dramas, the alternative narrative is a fiction created by a central character, intentionally — as in
The Usual Suspects — or unintentionally — as in Angel Heart. Less often, the alternative narratives are given equal weight in the story, making them truly alternative universes,
such as in the German film Run Lola Run, the short-lived British West End musical Our House and the British film Sliding Doors.
Recent films that have more explicitly explored parallel universes are: the 2001 cult movie Donnie Darko, which deals with what it terms a "tangent universe" that erupts from our own universe; Super Mario Bros. (1993) has the eponymous heroes cross over into a parallel universe ruled by humanoids who evolved from dinosaurs; The One (2001) starring Jet Li, in which there is a complex system of realities in which Jet Li's character is a police officer in
one universe and a serial killer in another, who travels to other universes to destroy versions of himself, so that he can
become 'the one'; and FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions (2004), the main character runs away from a totalitarian nightmare, and he enters into a cyber-afterlife alternative

Comic books
Parallel universes in modern comics have become particularly rich and complex, in large part due to
the continual problem of continuity faced by the major two publishers, Marvel Comics and DC Comics. The two publishers have used the multiverse concept to fix problems arising from integrating characters from other publishers into their own canon,
and from having major serial protagonists having continuous histories lasting, as in the case of Superman, over 60 years. Additionally, both publishers have used new alternative universes to re-imagine their
own characters. (See Multiverse (DC Comics) and Multiverse (Marvel Comics))
Because of this, comic books in general are one of the few entertainment mediums where the concept
of parallel universes are a major and ongoing theme. DC in particular periodically revisits the idea in major crossover storylines, such as Crisis on Infinite Earths and Infinite Crisis, where Marvel has a series called What If... that's devoted to exploring alternative realities, which sometime impact the "main" universe's continuity.
Recently DC Comics series 52 heralded the return of the Multiverse. 52 was a mega-crossover event tied to Infinite Crisis which was
the sequel to the 1980s Crisis on Infinite Earths. The aim was to yet again address many of the problems and confusions
brought on by the Multiverse in the DCU. Now 52 Earths exist and including some Elseworld tales such as Kingdom Come, DC's imprint Wildstorm Comics and an Earth devoted to the Charlton Comics heroes of DC. Countdown and Countdown Presents: The Search for Ray Palmer and the upcoming Tales of the Multiverse stories expand upon this new Multiverse.
Marvel has also had many large crossover events which depicted an alternative universe, many springing
from events in the X-Men books, such as Days of Future Past, the seminal Age Of Apocalypse, and 2006's House Of M. In addition the Squadron Supreme is a DC inspired Marvel Universe that has been used several times, often crossing over into the mainstream
Universe in the Avengers comic. Exiles is an offshoot of the X-Men franchsie that allows characters to hop from one alternative reality to another, leaving the original, main Marvel Universe intact. The Marvel UK line has long had multiverse stories including the Jaspers' Warp storyline of Captain Britain's first series (it was here that the designation Earth-616 was first applied to the mainstream Marvel Universe).
Marvel Comics, as of 2000, launched their most popular parallel universe, the Ultimate Universe. It is a smaller subline to the mainstream titles and features Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Fantastic Four and the Ultimates (their "Avengers"). The line in many ways both inspired and was inspired by aspects of the new movie
franchises in addition to creating younger versions of the modern heroes
The Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game has a thoroughly developed system of planes of existence. A popular campaign setting for the game, Planescape, centers around travelling between these planes. Ravenloft, a gothic horror setting for Dungeons & Dragons, is based entirely in a single demiplane.
GURPS Infinite Worlds, a supplement for the Fourth Edition of the GURPS role-playing game, expands upon the campaign setting of conflict between the Infinity Patrol, which is the time-travel
agency on "our" Earth, referred to as Homeline, and Centrum across a multiplicity of alternate history Earths. It won the 2005 Origins Award as Best Game Supplement.[7]
In the Magic: The Gathering, every plane is part of a multiverse. What effects one plane, may ultimately affect others.
In the computer game Myst a people known as D'ni colonized Earth from another universe, and kept traveling to other universes (known as Ages) through Linking Books. According to their cosmology, each universe is a leaf of the Terokh Jeruth,
the Tree of Possibilities. Myst also includes the use of Trap Books as empty universes for storing criminals, although they
were later retconned to be complete universes of their own, called Prison Ages.
The Kingdom Hearts series makes frequent use of multiple worlds, implementing Disney properties used as source material as their
own world the protagonists can travel to over the course of the game (such as Halloween Town from The Nightmare Before Christmas or Port Royal from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl).
In the computer game Red Alert 1, Albert Einstein uses his time machine to go back into past and kill Adolf Hitler in an attempt to prevent World War
II. The game takes place in parallel universe where Hitler was eliminated in 1924, and Soviet Union invades Europe in 1940s.
In the computer game Red Alert 2, or more specifically, its expansion, Yuri's Revenge, the player must utilise a time machine and travel back in time, to a parallel universe.
The Silent Hill horror video game series incorporates a concept of parallel worlds that are related to main character's emotions, memories,
fears and other projections of his or her subconsciousness.
The massively multiplayer online game Ultima Online used the parallel universe concept to rationalize the existence of multiple instances of the game world (called "shards"), so that players could be partitioned onto multiple servers for capacity reasons.
The massively multiplayer online game City of Heroes makes extensive use of the parallel universe concept as part of the setting and storyline.
The massively multiplayer online game Underlight takes place in a parallel universe accessed most commonly by its residents through dreaming.
In Bungie's first person shooter Marathon Infinity, the player frequently travels between parallel universes.

Our Lady of Lourdes
Modern popular image of the Lourdes Apparition.
In the culture and practice the Roman Catholic Church - a shrine to the Virgin Mary or Marian shrine is a shrine marking an apparition or other miracle ascribed to the Blessed Virgin Mary, or a site on which is centered a historically strong Marian
devotion.
Some of the largest shrines are due to reported Marian apparitions to young and simple people on remote hilltops that had hardly been heard of prior to the reported
apparition. The case of Saint Juan Diego's reported vision of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1531 is similar to the case of Saint Bernadette Soubirous's vision in 1858 of Our Lady of Lourdes. Both saints reported a miraculous Lady on a hilltop who asked them to request that the local
priests build a chapel at the site of the vision. Both visions included a reference to roses and led to large churches being
built at the sites. Like Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, Our Lady of Lourdes is a major Catholic symbol in France.

Ice Age Flood Theory as of 1923

He claims
catastrophic floods shaped the landscape over a matter of days. As many as 50 floods the size of all rivers in the world combined.
His theory, introduced in 1923, was pilloried for deccades by those who followed the conventopnal wisdom that geologic
events took place gradually, not all at once. Bretz was called a dunce and a heretic, but over time his work became widely
accepted.
I will back that theory and provide evidence of this FACT........

s u m m a r y
This section presents a brief overview of the Glacial Lake Missoula Floods
story, two of the key people involved with discovering the Floods and the glacial lake from which the Floods originated, and
events that led up to the initiation of the Ice Age Floods Alternatives Study.
1. Geologic Background
In recent
geological history, portions of the United States have been the site of several massive flooding events caused by the abrupt
drainage of glacial lakes. The most dramatic of these events are the Ice Age Floods that covered parts of Montana, Idaho,
Washington, and Oregon. For a better understanding of the Floods, perhaps a good place to start is to first look at the geological
and climatic changes that led up to these cataclysmic floods.

Generally accepted scientific evidence indicates
that the earth is around 4.5 to 4.6 billion years old. Glaciation can be traced all the way back to the Proterozoic Era, approximately
2.3 billion years ago, when the earth was covered with ice. Near the end of the Proterozoic Era, between 850 and 600 million
years ago, rock records indicate another global glaciation period.
About 200 million years ago the Atlantic Ocean
began to open up and the continents drifted into their current configuration. The dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years
ago, and about 20 million years ago, in late Cenozoic Era, the Pacific Northwest started to look much as it does today, with
its mountains, valleys, and shorelines.
Ice Ages have occurred sporadically throughout the earth’s history,
although they represent a relatively small part of geologic time. Many of the still visible effects of the great ice sheets
that periodically covered parts of North America were produced during the last Ice Age, in the Pleistocene Epoch. These ice
sheets left a distinctive geologic record in the land forms of the Northwest.

From 17 to 13 million years ago, lava flows
emanating from a series of volcanic extrusions spread across the Columbia River Basin, constructing a broad lava platform
across northeast Oregon, eastern Washington, and central Idaho. These extrusions were among the largest and most spectacular
lava flows of their kind. The Columbia River basalts that flooded across the Pacific Northwest consisted of more than 42,000
cubic miles of lava. In places, the basalt is more than two miles thick. In the Columbia Basin, the lava basalts were covered
with windblown glacial dust and silt, called loess, that is up to 250 feet thick. The Cascade Mountains were formed during
the later part of these basalt extrusions.
During the Pleistocene Epoch Ice Age, beginning about 2.5 million years
ago, virtually all of southwestern Canada was repeatedly glaciated by ice sheets that also covered much of Alaska, northern
Washington, Idaho, Montana, and the rest of northern United States. In North America, the most recent glacial event is the
Wisconsin glaciation, which began about 80,000 years ago and ended around 10,000 years ago. Floods events from this last glacial
period are the subject of this report.
2. Story of the Floods
At the end of the last Ice Age, a finger of
the Cordilleran ice sheet crept southward into the Idaho panhandle, forming a large ice dam that blocked the mouth of the
Clark Fork River, creating a massive lake 2000 feet deep and containing more than 500 cubic miles of water. Glacial Lake Missoula
stretched eastward for some 200 miles and contained more water than Lake Erie and Lake Ontario combined. When the highest
of these ice dams failed, lake water burst through, shooting out at a rate 10 times the combined flow of all the rivers of
the world.
This towering mass of water and ice literally shook the ground as it thundered toward the Pacific Ocean,
stripping away hundreds of feet of soil and cutting deep canyons—”coulees”—into the underlying bedrock.
With flood speeds approaching 65 miles per hour, the lake would have drained in as little as 48 hours.
Over time the
Cordilleran ice sheet continued moving south and blocked the Clark Fork River again and again, recreating Glacial Lake Missoula.
Over approximately 2,500 years, the lake, ice dam and flooding sequence was repeated dozens of times, leaving a lasting mark
on the landscape.
Today we can see how the floods impacted the landscape. They carved out more than 50 cubic miles
of earth, piled mountains of gravel 30 stories high, created giant ripple marks the height of three-story buildings, and scattered
200-ton boulders from the Rockies to the Willamette Valley. Grand Coulee, Dry Falls, Palouse Falls—all were created
by these flood waters, as were the Missoula and Spokane ground-water resources, numerous wetlands and the fertile Willamette
Valley and Quincy Basin.

During the last Ice Age, a finger of the Cordilleran ice sheet crept southward into the

more than 500 cubic miles of water and was 2,000 feet deep behind the ice dam.
About 17,000 years ago
the ice dam broke numerous times, with the initial outburst releasing a torrent of water that flowed toward the Pacific Ocean
at a rate of 10 times the combined flow of all the rivers of the world.
As the flood waters thundered
toward the ocean, they stripped away thick soils, cut deep canyons in the underlying bedrock, and scattered house-sized boulders
across four states.
Unable to pass through a narrow gap near Kalama, Washington, the flood water backed
up and flooded the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
More than 16,000 square miles of land were flooded in the first-of-many
Glacial Lake Missoula floods.
Today, geologists and visitors to the region can see first hand the varied
flood features created by the Ice Age Floods.

3. J Harlen Bretz—Hypothesis of Catastrophic Floods
In many ways, the story of the Floods is
also the story of J Harlen Bretz (1882-1981), who proposed the theory that the Channeled Scablands of eastern Washington,
and much of the Northwest as we know it today, were formed by catastrophic flooding.

Bretz became a high-school biology teacher in Seattle. He had earlier developed
a keen interest in the glacial geology of the Puget Sound and had studied the area extensively. This interest in geology led
him to the University of Chicago, where he was awarded a Ph.D. in Geology in 1913. Then, Bretz accepted a position as an assistant
professor of geology at the University of Washington and later at the University of Chicago. His thesis was on the glacial
history of the Puget Sound, and he quickly became recognized as an expert in the features of stream and glacial erosion.
Bretz
began his field research in the Channeled Scablands of central Washington during the summer of 1922, and it quickly became
clear to him that neither glaciation nor ordinary stream erosion explained the Scablands. The following year Bretz made his
two presentations to the Geological Society of America on the Scablands. The first paper provided a detailed physiographic
description of the Scablands; the second suggested that it would have taken a massive volume of water to create the degree
of channel erosion that had occurred.
Bretz’s second paper on the Scablands also discussed the mounded gravel
deposits that were scattered throughout the area. He proposed the idea of a catastrophic flood and included the first detailed
geological map that included all of the Scablands and showed the extent of the floods. Bretz used the name “Spokane
Flood” because he assumed the source of the water for this flood was somewhere near Spokane, Washington.

Bretz was confident that a flood had occurred, but was
unable to figure out where the water had come from. Originally, he proposed that the water was the result of increased runoff
from melting glaciers. But even Bretz had a tough time imagining any significant volume of water melting rapidly enough to
have such devastating impact. Not until 1930 did Bretz consider Glacial Lake Missoula as the possible source of water he was
searching for. But the geologic evidence was elusive, and he did not fully embrace the idea until 1956. Unable to provide
a clear, scientific argument for the source of flood water, Bretz went on to other activities.
Bretz lived to the
age of 98 and late in life had the satisfaction of seeing his theories validated. Perhaps it is poetic justice that in 1979,
Bretz, at the age of 96, received the Penrose Medal, the Geological Society of America’s (GSA) highest award.

4. Joseph T. Pardee—Glacial Lake Missoula
Joseph
Thomas Pardee (1871–1960) also played a key role in understanding the story of the Floods. It was Pardee who proposed
that the floods Bretz talked about occurred when the ice dam that had formed Glacial Lake Missoula was breached.
In
his numerous reports, Bretz rarely asked about a water source, and then only in a brief sentence or two devoid of analysis.

Pardee, a geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, began
studying the Scabland region near Spokane, Washington, and the intermountain basins of Montana in 1910. Pardee found geomorphic
evidence of a large glacial lake in western Montana; strandlines (high water marks) indicating the maximum height of the lake
are clearly visible today in the area around the city of Missoula, Montana.
Pardee spent years collecting, analyzing,
and documenting other geomorphic evidence, and eventually the scientific community was convinced that Glacial Lake Missoula
had indeed existed.
Apparently Pardee and Bretz did communicate over the years, and Pardee suggested that Bretz consider
the draining of Glacial Lake Missoula as a possible source of the Floods. But neither Pardee nor Bretz had the scientific
evidence to back up such an idea.
Later, in the late 1930s at Camas Prairie in northwestern Montana, Pardee discovered
a series of ripple marks left on the lake bottom sediments of Glacial Lake Missoula that could only have been formed by powerful
currents that flowed over the bottom, shaping the sediments into smooth, parallel ridge-rows. The marks were evidence that
the ice dam holding back the water had failed suddenly, and Glacial Lake Missoula had drained rapidly. The ripple marks are
up to 50 feet high and 500 feet apart. Because the ripples are so large, it was only when Pardee was able to view these unique
features from the air that he recognized them as being formed by water. Once they had been identified and people knew what
to look for, similar examples of giant ripple marks were found throughout the path of the floods.

In addition to the ripple marks, Pardee found
other evidence of the ice dam failure, including severely scoured constrictions in the lake basin and huge bars of current-transported
debris.
Pardee first presented this evidence in 1940 at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement
of Science in Seattle, Washington. His conclusions were later published in the 1942 GSA Bulletin paper titled “Unusual
Currents in Glacial Lake Missoula.” Collectively, these papers played a pivotal role in the scientific community’s
eventual acceptance of the cataclysmic flooding hypothesis. His work provided, for the first time, a logical source of water
needed to support Bretz’s hypothesis. The ripple marks were a key piece of evidence that eventually helped convince
skeptics of the cataclysmic-flood hypothesis.
Even after Pardee’s work was made public, acceptance of Bretz’s
theories was slow in coming. It took another 20 to 30 years before Bretz’s theory of catastrophic flooding became generally
accepted among geologists.
Pardee and Bretz were certainly not the only ones involved in solving the mysteries of
the Glacial Lake Missoula Floods. For example, in 1871, geologist Thomas Condon proposed the idea that Oregon’s Willamette
Valley was flooded sometime during the Ice Ages.
5. Scientific Debates—Uniformitarianism vs. Catastrophism

The debate over the origin of the Channeled Scabland region of eastern Washington was one of the great controversies
in the history of geology. One reason Bretz encountered such vehement opposition to his hypothesis of catastrophic flooding
was that there were no records of such floods in modern-day experience and the magnitude of the floods was at a scale that
was difficult to imagine. The biggest difficulty, however, was that a catastrophic flood at the scale Bretz was describing
was almost biblical in proportion, and this notion was directly at odds with the idea of Uniformitarianism.

Doom is a 2005 movie adaptation of the popular Doom series of video games
produced by id Software. The movie was released October 21st, 2005 in the United States, and on December 2nd, 2005 in the
United Kingdom.
On February 7th, 2006, the unrated DVD for the Doom movie was officially released. The unrated DVD
has a running time of 1 hour 53 minutes, which suggests that 15 minutes of footage were removed from the rated release.
A
movie based on the series has been widely expected since the first game's original release in 1993. In 1994 or 1995, id Software
sold Doom movie rights to two movie studios, reportedly Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures, but the rights expired apparently
due to a lack of timely production. For the next eight or nine years, the movie project lingered in development hell. In 2002,
it was reported that Warner Brothers acquired live action movie rights to Doom from id Software. Sometime in 2003, Warner
Brothers lost the rights, and they were subsequently given to Universal Pictures; Universal got the movie moved into production
in 2004.
In a recent interview with executive producer John Wells, he stated that a second Doom movie could be created
if the first is a success in the box office. Ticket sales for the opening weekend totaled more than 15.3 million USD, but
promptly dropped down to approximately $4.2 million, which mystified Universal executives.
The basic plot of the movie
is quite similar to Aliens in that a small group of space marines go to investigate a deserted facility on another planet,
and do battle with vicious creatures until only a few are left who must fight to escape alive.
The film has been rated
R by the MPAA for strong violence/gore and language. The DVD release of Doom is unrated.

The
film begins on Mars in a research facility where scientists are running for their lives, as one by one, they are grabbed and
pulled into dark hallways, yelling in horror. A doctor, Dr. Carmack, manages to get in a security room when a surviving female
scientist yells at him to keep the doors open for her. The doctor stares at her numb in horror, as the doors begin to shut,
trapping her arm between the doors. She yells in agony as something grabs her, pushes her upwards, and pulls her from the
door severing her arm. As the doctor turns around to send an SOS rescue signal, the "thing" breaks through the door, growls
and stares at the doctor, and the scene fades into darkness.
On Earth, a team of elite special ops Marines is deployed
to Mars, via use of a teleportation device called the Ark. Their mission is simple: Search-n-Destroy, which targeted at investigating
the disturbance occurring at the Union Aerospace Corporation's (UAC) Mars research facility, to eliminate the threat, secure
the facility, and retrieve UAC property. However, this mission becomes more complicated when the team finds Dr. Carmack who
is disturbed to the point of tearing off his own ear. The Marines continue to explore the facility, encountering strange creatures
intent on killing them. One such being, an Imp, succeeds in slaying one of the marines, but is promptly killed and brought
to researcher Dr. Grimm, who seeks scientific data. From blood samples taken from two hostile creatures, it is determined
that their genetic makeup has been altered by the addition of a 24th chromosome, which turns humans into a superhuman, or
a monster depending on whether the person is "good" or "evil". Consequently, this chromosome is classified as an infection,
which is later spread by the projectile tongues of those infected.
Through multiple attacks by the imps, the squad
is reduced to just Sarge, Reaper (brother of Dr. Grimm), The Kid, and Duke, along with Dr. Grimm. They realize that despite
their best efforts, a larger monster called a Hell Knight (presumed to be the original) escapes to Earth through the Ark.
Before leaving, Sarge takes the Bio Force Gun (BFG), a.k.a 'Big Fucking Gun', and Dr. Grimm brings a sample of the Chromosome
24 serum. It is revealed that the researchers unintentionally created the imps by giving a human some of the serum, which
was extracted from the remains of an ancient alien civilization on Mars.
"Reaper" on the left, (played by Karl
Urban) and "Goat" shown on the right (played by Ben Daniels).On Earth, the group finds the UAC facility full of bodies. Sarge
orders all corpses be shot to prevent any from rising again, and that all survivors must be killed too in case they are infected.
The Kid finds a group of living, non-infected humans and reports this to Sarge. He argues that the order should be rescinded,
but Sarge responds by saying that violating the CO's order is punishable by death and shoots The Kid for insubordination.
The group continues through the facility until Duke is killed during a major assault by zombies. In addition to Duke's death,
and Sarge being dragged away by the zombies, Reaper is hit by a ricocheting bullet. Consequently, to save his life, Dr. Grimm
injects Reaper with Chromosome 24. This turns him into a superhuman, causing his injuries to heal almost instantly, and endowing
him with incredible strength and speed.
Following Reaper's change, the movie takes on its first-person shooter
perspective strongly resembling Doom 3 in terms of environment, creatures, and gameplay.
In the words of Karl Urban,
the actor who plays Reaper:
"In some ways, it makes cinematic history in that, for the first time, the audience becomes
the hero of the film."[citation needed]
"When we go into FPS, the audience is doing the rampage, the audience is doing
the work and that is so cool. It’s insane!"[citation needed]
While slaying the remaining monsters, Reaper is attacked
by Pinky, a mutated UAC Ark attendant (the Pinky Demon in the game) and cyborg, whose bottom half of his body was replaced
by robotics and wheels due to major turbulence during ark travel. Earlier, Reaper explains this to The Kid saying that "he
went to one galaxy, his ass went to another". However, Reaper successfully uses the iconic chainsaw to defeat him by damaging
the joint connecting his body to the wheel. At the exit of the facility, Reaper finds a large mass of bodies and a blue burning
hole in the wall, which was caused by a BFG blast. Near this hole, Reaper encounters Sarge and an unconscious Dr. Grimm lying
on the floor. Reaper asks Sarge what happened to the non-infected survivors, and he replies that he took care of them, meaning
he killed them, remarking "We're killers. It's what we're paid to do." Reaper then notices the same injury on Sarge that Dr.
Carmack had before he turned into an Imp. After Dr. Grimm escapes Sarge's clutches, the two Marines face off, with Reaper
shooting Sarge and dodging a BFG shot from him. The two engage in hand-to-hand combat and fight with hard hits. Sarge finds
a metal pole and warps it around his arm. Sarge stabs it through Reaper's hand, but after a long fight, it rips out. The transformation
of Sarge to an Imp begins to get noticed during the fight by Reaper. Eventually, Reaper prevails by throwing Sarge into the
"Ark," along with an ST grenade transporting him back to Mars just before the Final Lockdown, which appears to seal the fate
of both Sarge and the UAC Mars facility.

The movie plot is based upon the assumption that all people are either genetically
predisposed to violence or not, and that upon evolution this predisposition takes over. It is stated that C-24 vaccine acts
only as a releaser for the aggression that is turning a human into a demon being, but the aggression is initially hidden dormant
inside the victim. This assumption is similar to the position taken by id Software lawyers on the famous Columbine High School
massacre case.[citation needed] One of the kids - Eric Harris - in a video left before the massacre said: "the killing will
be like fucking Doom". Being accused that their game was the cause of the violence and the massacre, representatives of id
Software claimed that it was only a “last drop” that triggered the events, but violence was initially in both
kids' psyches because they were predisposed to it.[citation needed] It is not known whether the case actually inspired this
part of the plot or if this was a mere coincidence, but parallels exist.

Marines
ReaperJohn "Reaper" Grimm (Karl Urban): The protagonist. A former scientist who joined the military
after the death of his parents on Mars. Following his conscience, he ultimately ends up opposing the UAC and Sarge. He is
the only Marine to survive the mission to Mars.
SargeSarge (The Rock): The squad leader. Sarge is a professional
marine who appears to have a good relationship with the men in his squad. However, his unquestioning loyalty to the corrupt
UAC and insistence on following orders no matter the consequences ultimately leads him to commit war crimes. He was apparently
killed by "Reaper" as he transformed into a demon.
Eric "Goat" Fantom (Ben Daniels): A quiet, extremely religious
man who cuts himself whenever he breaks a Commandment. It was hinted that he served time in prison. He was infected by a mutated
Dr. Willits, turned into a zombie, and killed himself before he could transform into an 'Imp'. "Goat" is played by Laurence
Olivier Theatre Award winning British actor Ben Daniels.
"Duke" (Raz Adoti): A smart-aleck who ends up hitting on
Samantha, who seems to mildly return his interest. One of four marines (Reaper, Sarge, the Kid, and himself) to survive the
Mars base and return to fight in the underground Nevada Arc base. He was pulled through a steel grate (presumably by the Imp's
attack) and dies.
Gannon "Destroyer" Roark (Deobia Oparei): The squad's stoic heavy weapons specialist. Destroyer
dies in hand-to-hand combat with a Hell Knight, but succeeds in giving the monster a beating.
"Mac" (Yao Chin): Enigmatic,
mostly silent, this baseball-loving marine is left behind to defend the Ark, and is decapitated by a Hell Knight.
"The
Kid" (Al Weaver): The newest member of the squad, The Kid is green and inexperienced, much to Sarge's chagrin. Also secretly
addicted to drugs to keep his newbie fear in control. He was killed by Sarge after refusing to follow his orders to shoot
innocent civilians.
Corporal Dean Portman (Richard Brake): This member of the squad was killed when a Hell Knight
beat him to death in the bathroom.

Civilians
Dr. Samantha
GrimmDr. Samantha Grimm (Rosamund Pike): A scientist on Mars, and John Grimm's sister. Conducting archaeological research
on the Martian civilization, she is assigned by UAC to accompany the marines and retrieve Dr. Carmack's research data. She
and Reaper are the only survivors left at the end of the film.
"Pinky" (Dexter Fletcher): A nervous technician on Mars
assigned to coordinate the squad's communications. Pinky has no lower body and is attached to a cybernetic wheel-chair, due
to a teleportation accident while using the Ark ("He went to one galaxy, his ass went to another"). He is named for the Pinky
Demon from the Doom games, which he eventually becomes near the end of the film (the transformation is not seen, but strongly
implied). Reaper kills him at the end of the first-person shooter scene.
Dr. Carmack (Robert Russell): The base's chief
scientist, Carmack's unethical experimentations in genetic engineering ultimately lead to the death of everyone on Mars. The
demon attack leaves him catatonic, and he ultimately transforms into a monster. An obvious reference to John Carmack of Id.
While immobilized, Sarge shoots him in the head to put an end to Samantha Grimm's insistence that she should try to cure Carmack.
Dr. Willits (Vladislav Dyntera): Another scientist who ultimately ends up altered and killed. An obvious reference to
Tim Willits. Turned into an imp, he taints/kills Goat before being shot to death by Reaper.
Lt. Huengs (Daniel York):
The leader of all security forces on Mars. He escapes when the civilians are evacuated but his ultimate fate is unknown.
Dr.
Jenna Willits (Sara Houghton): Dr. Willits' wife, she first takes a blood sample from Carmack and is the first one to see
that his blood was different. She escapes in the civilian evacuation.
Hell Knight (Baron of Hell)/Curtis Stahl (Brian
Steele): A psychopathic mass murderer slated for death row and experimented on by Dr. Carmack, he is transformed into the
"Hell Knight" and proceeds to rampage through the base, turning the scientists into imps and zombies. It is debated whether
or not he was a rapist, for several of the female corpses suggested so, as did an earlier scene in the extended version where
Portman and the Kid find a nude demon. Killed by Reaper during the First Person Shooter sequence.

In the '30s the covert
government (military) sought invisibility technology. Scientists were called upon to develop a technology which could make
objects invisible, such as airplanes or ships. Some of the greatest brains were recruited: Einstein, Tesla, Von Neumann (mathematician).
It appeared hardly likely though that human technology was advanced enough to achieve the 'cloaking' phenomenon required.
In fact at that time this was the case and it was the Zeta aliens who provided the final details for a system to create invisibility.
Today we have the stealth technology which is claimed to be radar invisibility but in fact is light invisibility.
Airplanes, in particular, can be cloaked. Cloaking is quite an apt word since the stealth technology is not five-sense invisibility.
Invisibility is created by using powerful electromagnetic fields to curve space around the object. Light thus bends around
the object and the object cannot be seen.
The military and scientists set up the battleship U.S. Eldridge
with an electromagnetic system: Tesla coils, etc. but aided by the Zetas. What the covert government didn't know was that
the Zetas were merely exploiting them for their own ends. The aliens provided a hidden technology which would create a wormhole,
a rift or tear in spacetime.
In 1943 the first successful test of invisibility was achieved but much to the
amazement of the military and scientists the ship completely disappeared. When it returned the military insisted on using
a crew the next time in order to gain information on what happened when it disappeared. It has been recorded that Tesla objected
at this point and either resigned or even attempted sabotage and was removed from the project. The ship disappeared and returned,
and the horrific effects of this have become fairly well known: insane crew with some of them embedded in the hull of the
ship.
Little known to the humans the experiment had to be conducted in August, 1943 as organized and influenced
by the Zetas. This was due to magnetic cycles that occur every 20 years in which a magnetic peak allowed easier transit across
certain dimensional bands of frequencies. For example, the electrical overtone (one pole of the electrical/magnetic vortex)
of D3 (dimensional band) connects with that of the magnetic base tone of D4, creating a magnetic window.
These particular
Zetas are the Zeta-Grey Rigelians from the star system Rigel in Orion. The Guardian Alliance refer to them as the Futczhi.
Zeta-Dracos are also involved as go-betweens in humans and Futczhi relations. They motivated the government to create the
experiment in 1983.
The ship was temporarily teleported to a future time, to 1983, another magnetic peak.
The Zetas had succeeded in creating a wormhole (a vortex interconnecting dimensions and times) as part of their plan
for expanding their implant grid system and also creating spacetime pathways to the phantom matrix (a separated, walled-off
astral realm; a slow-acting black hole, the abode of the dark forces).
In addition, the Zetas used this dimensional
window to bring in a fleet of spacecrafts, secretly, to position them for directing coded electromagnetic D1 pulses at the
Sun. This can be achieved via astral dimensions within our Earth into the D2 Earth body of which its centre is connected to
the Sun centre through inner-space geometry.
The purpose was to misalign the Sun/Earth energy relationship which they
accomplished, and further to misalign Earth and parallel Earth (Tara) where D1 (Earth) connects to D4 (Tara). (Earth is D1,
D2, D3; Tara is D4, D5, D6.)
This would create a repulsion zone between Earth and Tara and prevent ascension at the
closing of the planetary time period of 26,556 years. We would then have to continue to reincarnate in repeated cycles.
The
result of the pulses directed at the Sun was to reverse the magnetic polarity into electrical at the D1 level, causing the
D1 vortices of Earth and Sun to repel. They also reversed the D4 frequencies so that Earth would repel Tara - and further
this would cause misalignment in the other dimensions D2, D3, D5, D6.
This violation of the harmonic balance between
these planets and Sun caused increasing Sun flares between 1943 and 1972. Astronomers became very concerned about the dangers
to Earth. In fact they predicted an explosion on the Sun by about 1972 which would continue, with the possibility of destroying
all life on Earth.
Fortunately the Sirian Council of the Guardian Alliance intervened. From the ETs' point of view
in 1972 there would have been a red pulse released from the Sun, destroying all life on Earth. The D1 frequency band corresponds
to red in the spectrum; hence the name red pulse. It is an intense expanding wave of ultralow frequency energy.
On
August 7, 1972 scientists recorded the most intense flare ever but it was a puzzle as to why it subsided. The Sirian Council
had in fact intervened. The Sun's vortices were out of balance but the correction was a major task and lengthy. A temporary
solution was to create a frequency fence around Earth to prevent resonance from the red pulse and subsequent destruction of
all life. This procedure is described in the article on the so-called "11:11".
In spite of the Zeta's plan of disrupting
the alignment of the Sun, Earth and Tara, and preventing ascension being thwarted, they nevertheless had succeeded in creating
their wormhole in 1943, a key item for a series of three such endeavors; the other two at magnetic peaks in 1983 and 2003.
The Montauk books detail the events of 1983 in which the secret government were again induced and deceived into creating
a time machine linking 1983 to 1943 expanding and strengthening the 1943 wormhole. The third experiment must be conducted
in 2003, the last magnetic peak before 2012 and the ascension period. The government must again be deceived into performing
another experiment which would reinforce the Zeta's implant network sufficiently to form an effective frequency fence for
the whole population, preventing the major aspects of the ascension from occurring. The 1983 wormhole widened the rip of 1943
and linked the time periods successfully to their Dracos-Zeta D4 time period - their base of operations. Note that these Zeta
plans were a hindrance to the competing alien faction, the Anunnaki, in their One World Order agenda and they attempted to
block the plan. The expanding wormhole network strengthened its connection to the Phantom Matrix (also through their Falcon
wormhole, and this so-called Montauk vortex grid system can now radiate psychotronic mind control directives to the population).

This is the day I asked Lon Dober to find
Grand Coulee Dam on Topozone....He got quotients from my map of the State of Washington and within 2 key strokes he found
the area I wanted.

Because of CNN on TV & AOL News on my computer I was able to hear about
the Ice Age Flood Theory of Mr. Bretz and knew in an instant his theory was correct and true.....
I had told Lon we
were going to do GREAT things together and he smiled and said okay what can I do? I said mostly be a witness...
With
my Power of Being The Christ Grid and The Prime Meridian I am able to pull The Earth's Magnetic Field to use for healing or
punishing. I chose to heal the cracks of The Grand Coulee Dam because I had a PING in my stomach that this was the source
of the Earth's Gobal problems.....
With the help of an Assended Master my Divine Couple partner The other half of
our Universe's Life Force he gave the information I needed as to where about the cracks were and how they were made...This
information enabled me to know what to heal and what to use if the first healing didn't work due to interferance from the
persons who made the cracks...
The person who made the cracks use some sort of Green Goo which melted from the Earth's
Core and the condescension from the water from the dam was causing the Green House effect......
This was coming from
the 40 ft. crack...
Then on Lake Roosvelt there were 2 splinters 500 miles long going North and South which were the
cause of the Ice Caps melting...these were all fixed at once....Bitmen was used to replace the Green Goo....Bitumen was used
in Mesopotamia to build the Ziggarts and the material helped resist the floods casued to drown the Slaves that were created
to do the work for the Anunnaki's....
So I took the material they used and used it for the cracks.....
I later
found out from a White House Staff member that the Universe was turning BLUE and I knew that it was true the Universe was
thought to be an ocean of Blue Air and a Green Magnetic Grid.....
And now I know we have been living in a DEAD UNIVERSE.....they
the Time Travelers have KILLED the Universe we built......
As proof of my theory I have enclosed the following:
In the '30s the covert government (military) sought invisibility technology. Scientists were called upon to develop
a technology which could make objects invisible, such as airplanes or ships. Some of the greatest brains were recruited: Einstein,
Tesla, Von Neumann (mathematician). It appeared hardly likely though that human technology was advanced enough to achieve
the 'cloaking' phenomenon required. In fact at that time this was the case and it was the Zeta aliens who provided the final
details for a system to create invisibility.
Today we have the stealth technology which is claimed to be radar invisibility
but in fact is light invisibility. Airplanes, in particular, can be cloaked. Cloaking is quite an apt word since the stealth
technology is not five-sense invisibility. Invisibility is created by using powerful electromagnetic fields to curve space
around the object. Light thus bends around the object and the object cannot be seen.
The military and scientists set
up the battleship U.S. Eldridge with an electromagnetic system: Tesla coils, etc. but aided by the Zetas. What the covert
government didn't know was that the Zetas were merely exploiting them for their own ends. The aliens provided a hidden technology
which would create a wormhole, a rift or tear in spacetime.
In 1943 the first successful test of invisibility was
achieved but much to the amazement of the military and scientists the ship completely disappeared. When it returned the military
insisted on using a crew the next time in order to gain information on what happened when it disappeared. It has been recorded
that Tesla objected at this point and either resigned or even attempted sabotage and was removed from the project. The ship
disappeared and returned, and the horrific effects of this have become fairly well known: insane crew with some of them embedded
in the hull of the ship.
Little known to the humans the experiment had to be conducted in August, 1943 as organized
and influenced by the Zetas. This was due to magnetic cycles that occur every 20 years in which a magnetic peak allowed easier
transit across certain dimensional bands of frequencies. For example, the electrical overtone (one pole of the electrical/magnetic
vortex) of D3 (dimensional band) connects with that of the magnetic base tone of D4, creating a magnetic window.
These
particular Zetas are the Zeta-Grey Rigelians from the star system Rigel in Orion. The Guardian Alliance refer to them as the
Futczhi. Zeta-Dracos are also involved as go-betweens in humans and Futczhi relations. They motivated the government to create
the experiment in 1983.
The ship was temporarily teleported to a future time, to 1983, another magnetic peak.
The
Zetas had succeeded in creating a wormhole (a vortex interconnecting dimensions and times) as part of their plan for expanding
their implant grid system and also creating spacetime pathways to the phantom matrix (a separated, walled-off astral realm;
a slow-acting black hole, the abode of the dark forces).
In addition, the Zetas used this dimensional window to bring
in a fleet of spacecrafts, secretly, to position them for directing coded electromagnetic D1 pulses at the Sun. This can be
achieved via astral dimensions within our Earth into the D2 Earth body of which its centre is connected to the Sun centre
through inner-space geometry.

The purpose was to misalign the Sun/Earth
energy relationship which they accomplished, and further to misalign Earth and parallel Earth (Tara) where D1 (Earth) connects
to D4 (Tara). (Earth is D1, D2, D3; Tara is D4, D5, D6.)
This would create a repulsion zone between Earth and Tara
and prevent ascension at the closing of the planetary time period of 26,556 years. We would then have to continue to reincarnate
in repeated cycles.
The result of the pulses directed at the Sun was to reverse the magnetic polarity into electrical
at the D1 level, causing the D1 vortices of Earth and Sun to repel. They also reversed the D4 frequencies so that Earth would
repel Tara - and further this would cause misalignment in the other dimensions D2, D3, D5, D6.
This violation of the
harmonic balance between these planets and Sun caused increasing Sun flares between 1943 and 1972. Astronomers became very
concerned about the dangers to Earth. In fact they predicted an explosion on the Sun by about 1972 which would continue, with
the possibility of destroying all life on Earth.
Fortunately the Sirian Council of the Guardian Alliance intervened.
From the ETs' point of view in 1972 there would have been a red pulse released from the Sun, destroying all life on Earth.
The D1 frequency band corresponds to red in the spectrum; hence the name red pulse. It is an intense expanding wave of ultralow
frequency energy.
On August 7, 1972 scientists recorded the most intense flare ever but it was a puzzle as to why
it subsided. The Sirian Council had in fact intervened. The Sun's vortices were out of balance but the correction was a major
task and lengthy. A temporary solution was to create a frequency fence around Earth to prevent resonance from the red pulse
and subsequent destruction of all life. This procedure is described in the article on the so-called "11:11".
In spite
of the Zeta's plan of disrupting the alignment of the Sun, Earth and Tara, and preventing ascension being thwarted, they nevertheless
had succeeded in creating their wormhole in 1943, a key item for a series of three such endeavors; the other two at magnetic
peaks in 1983 and 2003.
The Montauk books detail the events of 1983 in which the secret government were again induced
and deceived into creating a time machine linking 1983 to 1943 expanding and strengthening the 1943 wormhole. The third experiment
must be conducted in 2003, the last magnetic peak before 2012 and the ascension period. The government must again be deceived
into performing another experiment which would reinforce the Zeta's implant network sufficiently to form an effective frequency
fence for the whole population, preventing the major aspects of the ascension from occurring. The 1983 wormhole widened the
rip of 1943 and linked the time periods successfully to their Dracos-Zeta D4 time period - their base of operations. Note
that these Zeta plans were a hindrance to the competing alien faction, the Anunnaki, in their One World Order agenda and they
attempted to block the plan. The expanding wormhole network strengthened its connection to the Phantom Matrix (also through
their Falcon wormhole, and this so-called Montauk vortex grid system can now radiate psychotronic mind control directives
to the population).

The planet Earth, photographed in the year 1972.The
history of Earth covers approximately 4.567 billion years (4,567,000,000 years), from Earth’s formation out of the solar
nebula to the present. This article presents a broad overview, summarizing the leading scientific theories. Due to the difficulty
of comprehending very large amounts of time, the analogy of a single 24-hour period will be used, beginning exactly 4.567
billion years ago, at the formation of Earth, and ending now. Each second of this period represents approximately 53,000 years.
The Big Bang and origin of the universe, estimated at occurring 13.7 billion years ago,[1] is equivalent to taking place almost
three days ago—two whole days before our clock began to tick.

Earth formed as part of the birth of the solar system: what eventually became the solar system initially existed as a
large, rotating cloud of dust and gas. It was composed of hydrogen and helium produced in the Big Bang, as well as heavier
elements produced by stars long gone. Then, about 4.6 billion years ago (fifteen to thirty minutes before our imaginary clock
started), a nearby star probably became a supernova. The explosion sent a shock wave toward the solar nebula and caused it
to contract. As the cloud continued to rotate, gravity and inertia flattened the cloud into a proto-planetary disc, perpendicular
to its axis of rotation. Most of the mass concentrated in the middle and began to heat up. The impossibility of kinetic heat,
produced by the infall of matter escaping caused the centre to heat up sufficiently to enable the centre of the concentration
to produce its own internal heat source through nuclear fusion of hydrogen into helium, starting as a T Tauri star, our early
sun. Meanwhile, as gravity caused matter to condense around dust particles, the rest of the disc started to break up into
rings. Small fragments collided and became larger fragments.[2] These included one collection approximately 150 million kilometers
from the center: Earth. As the Sun condensed and heated, fusion began, and the resulting T Tauri solar wind cleared out most
of the material in the disc that had not already condensed into larger bodies.

The origin of the Moon is still uncertain, although much evidence exists for the giant
impact hypothesis. Earth may not have been the only planet forming 150 million kilometers from the Sun. It is hypothesized
that another collection occurred 150 million kilometers from both the Sun and the Earth, at the fourth or fifth Lagrangian
point. This planet, named Theia, is thought to have been smaller than the current Earth, probably about the size and mass
of Mars. Its orbit may at first have been stable but destabilized as Earth increased its mass by the accretion of more and
more material. Theia swung back and forth relative to Earth until, finally, an estimated 4.533 billion years ago (perhaps
12:05 a.m. on our clock),[3] it collided at a low, oblique angle. The low speed and angle were not enough to destroy Earth,
but a large portion of its crust was ejected. Heavier elements from Theia sank to Earth’s core, while the remaining
material and ejecta condensed into a single body within a couple of weeks. Under the influence of its own gravity, this became
a more spherical body: the Moon.[4] The impact is also thought to have changed Earth’s axis to produce the large 23.5°
axial tilt that is responsible for Earth’s seasons. (A simple, ideal model of the planets’ origins would have
axial tilts of 0° with no recognizable seasons.) It may also have sped up Earth’s rotation and initiated the planet’s
plate tectonics.
The Hadean eon
Main article: Hadean
Volcanic eruptions would have been common in
Earth's early days.The early Earth, during the very early Hadean eon, was very different from the world known today. There
were no oceans and no oxygen in the atmosphere. It was bombarded by planetoids and other material left over from the formation
of the solar system. This bombardment, combined with heat from radioactive breakdown, residual heat, and heat from the pressure
of contraction, caused the planet at this stage to be fully molten. Heavier elements sank to the center while lighter ones
rose to the surface, producing Earth's various layers (see "Structure of the Earth"). Earth's early atmosphere would have
comprised surrounding material from the solar nebula, especially light gases such as hydrogen and helium, but the solar wind
and Earth's own heat would have driven off this atmosphere.
This changed when Earth was about 40% its present radius,
and gravitational attraction allowed the retention of an atmosphere which included water. Temperatures plummeted and the crust
of the planet was accumulated on a solid surface, with areas melted by large impacts on the scale of decades to hundreds of
years between impact. Large impacts would have caused localized melting and partial differentiation, with some lighter elements
on the surface or released to the moist atmosphere. [5]
The surface cooled quickly, forming the solid crust within
150 million years (around 12:45 a.m. on our clock).[6] From 4 to 3.8 billion years ago (around 3 to 4 a.m.), Earth underwent
a period of heavy asteroidal bombardment.[7] Steam escaped from the crust while more gases were released by volcanoes, completing
the second atmosphere. Additional water was imported by bolide collisions, probably from asteroids ejected from the outer
asteroid belt under the influence of Jupiter's gravity. The planet cooled. Clouds formed. Rain gave rise to the oceans within
750 million years (3.8 billion years ago, around 4:00 a.m. on our clock), but probably earlier. (Recent evidence suggests
the oceans may have begun forming by 4.2 billion years ago-1:50 a.m. on our clock.)[8] The new atmosphere probably contained
ammonia, methane, water vapor, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen, as well as smaller amounts of other gases. Any free oxygen would
have been bound by hydrogen or minerals on the surface. Volcanic activity was intense and, without an ozone layer to hinder
its entry, ultraviolet radiation flooded the surface.
Beginnings of life
The replicator in virtually all
known life is deoxyribonucleic acid. DNA is far more complex than the original replicator and its replication systems are
highly elaborate.Main article: Origin of life
The details of the origin of life are unknown, though the broad principles
have been established. A minority of scientists believes that life, or at least organic components, may have arrived on Earth
from space (see “Panspermia”); the mechanisms by which life would initially arise are nevertheless believed to
be similar to those of life with terrestrial origins.[9] Most scientists believe that life arose on Earth, but the timing
of this event is highly speculative—perhaps it arose around 4 billion years ago (around 3:00 a.m. on our clock).[10]
Somehow, in the energetic chemistry of early Earth, a molecule (or even something else) gained the ability to make copies
of itself–the replicator. The nature of this molecule is unknown, its function having long since been superseded by
life’s current replicator, DNA. In making copies of itself, the replicator did not always perform accurately: some copies
contained an “error.” If the change destroyed the copying ability of the molecule, there could be no more copies,
and the line would “die out.” On the other hand, a few rare changes might make the molecule replicate faster or
better: those “strains” would become more numerous and “successful.” As choice raw materials (“food”)
became depleted, strains which could exploit different materials, or perhaps halt the progress of other strains and steal
their resources, became more numerous.[11]
Several different models have been proposed explaining how a replicator
might have developed. Different replicators have been posited, including organic chemicals such as modern proteins of nucleic
acids, phospholipids, crystals,[12] or even quantum systems.[13] There is currently no method of determining which of these
models, if any, closely fits the origin of life on Earth. One of the older theories, and one which has been worked out in
some detail, will serve as an example of how this might occur. The high energy from volcanoes, lightning, and ultraviolet
radiation could help drive chemical reactions producing more complex molecules from simple compounds such as methane and ammonia.[14]
Among these were many of the relatively simple organic compounds that are the building blocks of life. As the amount of this
“organic soup” increased, different molecules reacted with one another. Sometimes more complex molecules would
result—perhaps clay provided a framework to collect and concentrate organic material.[15] The presence of certain molecules
could speed up a chemical reaction. All this continued for a very long time, with reactions occurring more or less at random,
until by chance there arose a new molecule: the replicator. This had the bizarre property of promoting the chemical reactions
which produced a copy of itself, and evolution proper began. Other theories posit a different replicator. In any case, DNA
took over the function of the replicator at some point; all known life (with the exception of some viruses and prions) use
DNA as their replicator, in an almost identical manner (see genetic code).
The first cell
A small section
of a cell membrane. This modern cell membrane is far more sophisticated than the original simple phospholipid bilayer (the
small blue spheres with two tails). Proteins and carbohydrates serve various functions in regulating the passage of material
through the membrane and in reacting to the environment.Modern life has its replicating material packaged neatly inside a
cellular membrane. It is easier to understand the origin of the cell membrane than the origin of the replicator, since the
phospholipid molecules that make up a cell membrane will often form a bilayer spontaneously when placed in water. Under certain
conditions, many such spheres can be formed (see “The bubble theory”).[16] It is not known whether this process
preceded or succeeded the origin of the replicator (or perhaps it was the replicator). The prevailing theory is that the replicator,
perhaps RNA by this point (the RNA world hypothesis), along with its replicating apparatus and maybe other biomolecules, had
already evolved. Initial protocells may have simply burst when they grew too large; the scattered contents may then have recolonized
other “bubbles.” Proteins that stabilized the membrane, or that later assisted in an orderly division, would have
promoted the proliferation of those cell lines. RNA is a likely candidate for an early replicator since it can both store
genetic information and catalyze reactions. At some point DNA took over the genetic storage role from RNA, and proteins known
as enzymes took over the catalysis role, leaving RNA to transfer information and modulate the process. There is increasing
belief that these early cells may have evolved in association with underwater volcanic vents known as “black smokers”.[17]
or even hot, deep rocks.[18] However, it is believed that out of this multiplicity of cells, or protocells, only one survived.
Current evidence suggests that the last universal common ancestor lived during the early Archean eon, perhaps roughly 3.5
billion years ago (5:30 a.m. on our imaginary clock) or earlier.[19],[20] This “LUCA” cell is the ancestor of
all cells and hence all life on Earth. It was probably a prokaryote, possessing a cell membrane and probably ribosomes, but
lacking a nucleus or membrane-bound organelles such as mitochondria or chloroplasts. Like all modern cells, it used DNA as
its genetic code, RNA for information transfer and protein synthesis, and enzymes to catalyze reactions. Some scientists believe
that instead of a single organism being the last universal common ancestor, there were populations of organisms exchanging
genes in lateral gene transfer.[19]
Photosynthesis and oxygen
The harnessing of the sun’s energy led
to several major changes in life on Earth.It is likely that the initial cells were all heterotrophs, using surrounding organic
molecules (including those from other cells) as raw material and an energy source.[21] As the food supply diminished, a new
strategy evolved in some cells. Instead of relying on the diminishing amounts of free-existing organic molecules, these cells
adopted sunlight as an energy source. Estimates vary, but by about 3 billion years ago[22] (around 8:00 a.m. on our clock),
something similar to modern photosynthesis had probably developed. This made the sun’s energy available not only to
autotrophs but also to the heterotrophs that consumed them. Photosynthesis used the plentiful carbon dioxide and water as
raw materials and, with the energy of sunlight, produced energy-rich organic molecules (carbohydrates).
Moreover,
oxygen was produced as a waste product of photosynthesis. At first it became bound up with limestone, iron, and other minerals.
There is substantial proof of this in iron-oxide rich layers in geological strata that correspond with this time period. The
oceans would have turned to a green color while oxygen was reacting with minerals. When the reactions stopped, oxygen could
finally enter the atmosphere. Though each cell only produced a minute amount

GRAND COULEE DAM 24 - ICE AGE FLOOD THEORY - WASHINGTON
A NEW ANCIENT HISTORY
NORTH SEA
On Sept. 28, 2001, it was reported that archaeologists in Scotland
had discovered evidence of a massive tidal wave that swept across the
North Sea c. 5800 BC. This tidal wave, they say, killed thousands and
caused widespread destruction on the northern coasts of Europe. This
event, they think, severed the British Isles from Europe.
The North Sea event is the same date as the break-through of the
Bosphous and the flooding of the Black Sea. In our reconstruction of
the dates of Genesis (see below), these two upheavals correspond to
time of the destruction of the Tower of Babel and the flight from Ur
of the Chaldees by Abraham's family.
In the Babylonian King's Lists, this is 3600 years, or one Saros
cycle, after the Flood--a Nibiru 'orbital' cycle. 'Nibiru' means the
"prophet-planet" and is the ancient name for Mercury ("Nebo Ur") in
the Neo-Babylonian empire, called "Adad" in Assyria. The Gilgamesh
Epic described how Adad assaulted the earth during the Deluge. On a
3600-year cycle between close approaches to the earth, Nibiru/Adad/
Mercury would have made another disastrous encounter around 5900 BC.
So the dates of the North Sea calamity and the Black Sea flood and
the revised chronology for the Tower of Babel destruction all occur
at the same time the errant Nibiru/Mercury returned to threaten the
earth. If these events all occurred at once, the implication is that
the earth suffered a planet-wide devastation from an extra-terrestial
source, namely the planet Mercury, in c. 5900 BC.
AMAZON DELUGE
The January 13th, 2001, SCIENCE NEWS reported a new study of the
Amazon River in Brazil, showing that a huge flood of water poured out
of the Amazon basin into the Atlantic ocean precisely at the time of
Plato's sinking of Atlantis, the same date we have determined was the
Deluge of Noah in Genesis when the Sabbatical cycle is used (as will
be explained below).
British scientist Mark A. Maslin and colleague Stephen J. Burns of
the University of Berne in Switzerland presented their discoveries in
the journal SCIENCE [Dec 22, 2000]. Prior to the Amazon's gushing
c. 11,800-11,700 years ago [Plato's date: 11,600 BP; ours: 11,549 BP]
by their dating, it had discharged barely half the flow it now bears
out to the Atlantic for roughly a thousand years prior to its flooding.
Then, "for a century or so," there was a doubling of the flow, as they
found in a sediment core showing "a brief yet substantial spike" in
the data. This "substantial spike" coincided with the sudden melting
of the Andean ice sheet, but it was far more than can be explained by
the melting alone: A sudden, short burst of increase rain occurred
at the same time, they concluded.
AFRICAN CLIMATE CYCLES MATCH REVISED GENESIS
Lawrence H. Robbins of Michigan State University and his team have
documented fishing technology in use in Africa as early as 20,000 BP.
Climatic changes across the African continent show that wet conditions
prevailed from 22,500-to-19,200 BP, matching our "wet" estimate based
on the revised Genesis of 23,140-to-17,740 BP. They then have a "dry"
period from 19,200-to-17,500 BP; we date this as 17,740-to-16,948 BP.
These numbers may not seem the same at first glance, but C-14 dates at
this distance into the past have a 1000-yr error range. Charting the
whole data set reveals how similar the results really are:

As you can see from the above comparison, the differences are well
within the range of error for C-14 data and do not actually conflict
even without allowing for C-14 errors.
A "SCHOCHING" DISCOVERY
Dr. Robert Schoch's new geological studies of Egyptian monuments
are likely to revolutionize our understanding of ancient history. His
team has found evidence of weathering upon "core structures" INSIDE the
ancient masonry of the Great Pyramid and of many other early Egyptian
edifices. What he has found proves that many of the structures we now
see in Egypt were constructed on top of other, more ancient structures
which had lain exposed to the elements for THOUSANDS OF YEARS prior to
their being covered up by the pyramids of the Old Kingdom.
This implies a radical revision of the history of Egypt. It
means an advanced Egyptian culture--the one that originally
LOCATED these old structures, that aligned them with great
precision to "true north," and that positioned them around
hundreds of square miles of Egyptian desert to mirror the
astrological sign of Orion--had existed THOUSANDS OF YEARS
BEFORE THE OLD KINGDOM, which Egyptologists date to 2500 BC.
Ancient Sumerian civilation's earliest written tablets [which are
nothing but agricultural commodity tokens] date to 3300 BC. The new
findings by Schoch push the high culture of Egypt back to AT LEAST
5000-7000 BC--vastly older than Sumer. This earlier Egytian culture
literally leaves the supposedly "ancient" civilization of Sumer in
the dust...
The true date of Egypt may be far older, Schoch says. He indicates
that the civilation that laid out these grand monuments so precisely
would have alread had a long devleopment time before planning this huge
complex of pyramids. Moreover, he feels his weathering estimates could
be underestimating the time involved.
There is yet another reason for dating this early Egyptian culture
older even than Schoch suspects. Several scholars over the past fifty
years have argued that the date for the Egyptian Old Kingdom--from which
Schoch's dates are extended back in time--could be off by centuries,
or even millennia.
We ourselves have suggested the date of the Old Kingdom may be too
"young" by 1500-2000 years. In 1983, carbon-14 studies of the Great
Pyramid of Giza showed it to be 200-1200 years older than its supposed
date of construction during the Old Kingdom. That meant it might have
been built as early as 3750 BC. But since Egyptologists reject tree-
ring dating (because it pushes their already faulty dates even further
out of alignment), the tree-ring adjusted date of the Great Pyramid may
be older than 4000 BC.
Adjusting Dr. Schoch's recent weathering measurements from the base
structure inside the Pyramid--by adding at least another 1500 years to
its age--we obtain a total date range of 8500-6500 BC for the original
construction and LOCATING of the Great Pyramid. So it was apparently
sited by the Egyptian civilization mentioned in Plato's discussion of
Atlantis, where Egypt is "re-founded" 1000 years after the sinking of
Atlantis in 9600 BC. We now can tie Plato's history to solid rock in
Egypt, with a major part of his story being confirmed: There truly was
an advanced Egyptian civilization founded around 8500 BC. Climatologist
Dr. Cesare Emiliani confirmed in 1973 that Plato's flood date was sound.
Emiliani discovered evidence in sea-core sediments for a sudden global
sea-level rise of c.325 feet around 9600 BC(+/-70yrs)--Plato's date for
the sinking of Atlantis. Emiliani's data proves that, if Atlantis were
real, then it would indeed have been flooded by the ocean at the very
time Plato stated. Plato either relied on genuine history or he made
an astonishingly lucky guess: Within a century of the exact date over
a period of nearly 10,000 years: 99% perfect.
Not only do we now have the dating of Atlantis becoming more credible,
but so is our c. 4000 BC+ dating for the Old Kingdom. In the summer
of 1999, German climatologists confirmed that Egypt and the Middle East
had endured a sudden great drought and famine in the 4500-4000 BC time
period. This date ties in perfectly with the new tree-ring calibrated
carbon-14 date of the Great Pyramid and, accordingly, its Old Kingdom
great famine in the days of the man who is credited with the Pyramid's
design, Imhotep.
All this brings us to Manetho, whose chronology of Egypt(c.280 BC)
Egyptologists have claimed to use. But Manetho says "70 kings ruled
for 70 DAYS" after the Old Kingdom. Egyptologists have ignored this
period in Manetho's history as if it never happened. Their excuse for
ignoring these 70 kings is that Manetho only accords them "70 DAYS."
But in the ancient world a "DAY" could be a person's life, and the
phrase "70 DAYS" could mean "70 GENERATIONS." Therefore, it signifies
a potentially vast time in which "70 kings" ruled. Using various ways
of calculating a typical king's rule, the period of these "70 kings"
might extend anywhere from 1000 to 3000 years. Thus, Manetho's kings
list implies that the Old Kingdom flourished some 1000-3000 years or
so EARLIER than the 2500 BC epoch now assumed. No wonder the carbon
dates don't fit! And Dr. Schoch's findings push the preceding age in
Egypt back another 3000 years.
THE "LONG" CHRONOLOGY OF GENESIS
None of this comes as a surprise to those of us who have argued for
the "Sabbatical Cycle" reading of Genesis. Although many people have
assumed Genesis "years" are 360-day years, the Hebrew word rendered
"year" literally means "cycle of time" and is translated in the KJV as
"day" or "month" or "year" or "generation" or "age" or whatever cycle
might be implied. In Genesis, one cycle mentioned repeatedly is the
7-year Sabbatical Cycle. If we apply this to the Genesis chronology,
the Biblical version of events lines up perfectly with the expanse of
ancient history uncovered by Schoch and the other scientists.
Plato's date for Atlantis sinking and the geologic evidence for a
sudden rise in global sea-level match the Deluge of Noah perfectly.
The new evidence for the rise of ancient Egypt matches what Genesis
says about Egypt's founding after the Flood and what Plato said. We
have Joseph's great famine matching perfectly with the one found by
German scientists in 1999.
Even the pre-flood era lines up beautifully with carbon-14 dating
of the rise of modern man, the first use of agriculture, early art
and invention, and other details that match Genesis exactly.
At a stroke the Bible and ancient history fall into alignment with
the evidence of science and archaeology. We have been arguing for the
revision of ancient history for over two decades, especially as it is
related to the dating of Genesis. [The number of new confirmations of
our reconstruction is amazing, and we will have more to say on this in
the days and months to come.]
NEW EUROPEAN DNA EVIDENCE
On November 10, 2000, the journal SCIENCE published a study by 13
scientists from Stanford University in California and Europe claiming
that y-chromosome DNA from 1,007 men living in 25 locales in Europe
"confirms" the idea that modern man entered Europe 40,000 years ago BP,
hunting and gathering, retreated before the glaciers 24,000 BP, revived
16,000 BP "after the ice-age," and were joined by an influx of "farmers"
from the Mideast about 8,000 BP. Although the study may at first seem
impressive, it is largely nonsense. DNA cannot tell anything about the
hunting or farming activities of either peoples or individuals. It can
tell us about cattle or crops only if the DNA comes from cattle or crops
and not from human beings.
The absurd attempt to identify 16,000 BP with the end of the last
ice-age cannot go unchallenged. All the global and oceanic data show
that this was the COLDEST period of the ice-age, not a warm epoch.
Moreover, the introduction of "Mideast DNA" is historically known to
have taken place between 1,000 and 3,500 years ago--a fact that is so
firmly established as to be beyond dispute. The Phoenicians and Jewish
people--to say nothing of Arabic invasions--arrived in Europe during the
past 3,500 years in large numbers. The study says one-fifth of the DNA
comes from the Mideast, which is in excellent agreement with the record
of history. To ignore this well-documented influx as if it had never
occurred, while substituting an unknown and undocumented influx 8,000
years ago, is extremely suspect. It is likely that the average of this
DNA is a bit older than 2,000 years.
A more obvious explanation for the DNA results is that the "clock"
being used to "date" the DNA shifts is in error by a factor of roughly
four-fold. Such "clocks" are based upon two unproven assumptions:
1) That the rate of mutation remains the same. This assumes there
are no outside factors, such as exposure to radiation or toxins,
that affect mutations of DNA. This is certainly false.
2) That the time between generations is constant and averages some
fixed period, such as 20 or 30 years. This assumes a cultural
consistency that is most unlikely. It also ignores the effects
of gene deterioration in the semen of older men, which could have
a significant impact upon mutation/generation rates.
It is obvious that the "clock" being used can be off by substantial
amounts of time under various assumptions about mutation rates and the
number of years between generations. For example, if one assumes that
mutations occur every 50 generations and that 20 years elapse between
each generation, then mutations occur every 1,000 years. On the other
hand, if mutations occur every 25 generations and only 13 years elapse
between generations, then mutations occur every 325 years. The second
"clock" is more than three times as fast as the first. Hence, the date
of an event in the genetic history of the first clock will be assumed
to have occurred over three times farther back in time than if one were
to use the second genetic clock.
So it would not be at all surprising if the "clock" used in this new
study were to prove too slow, yielding dates far too old. But we are
not without a way to calibrate this clock. As we have noted, the Jewish
and Phoenician immigrations into Europe are well-established and dated
by history. Using this solid ground, we can identify the Mideast DNA
in the study with a c.2,200(+/-1200 yrs)BP influx of known size and
chronological range. If correct, then the dates in the study MIGHT be
uniformly "old" by a factor of about 100:27.
Based upon this assumption, we can "recalibrate" the clock and the
dates as follows:

As we can easily see, this recalibrated timetable fits beautifully
into the known record of European settlement since the ice-age, while
the proposed Stanford "clock" creates major conflicts with the dating
of the ice-age and historical migrations. The Stanford model fails to
explain the "absence" of Jewish, Arabic, and Phoenician (ie Roman) and
other known recent DNA contributions in European genes. These modern
Mideast DNA contributions should be prominent in the Stanford data, or
certainly easy to detect, yet their model supposedly found no trace of
a recent influx. It is as if the Jews had no diaspora and the Arabs had
never invaded Europe. The Roman claim of Phoenician ancestry would be
false, and all those old European ports with Phoenician names must be
figments of everyone's imagination.
Yet if we simply accept the obvious fact that the DNA evidence for
a Mideast influx into Europe matches the known history of Europe, we
have no problem dating this DNA to fairly "recent" times, that is, to
the period from the Exodus era down to the Arab invasions.
Once that adjustment is made, all the other DNA dates quickly fall
into place. The ice-age ends where it should. The retreat from parts
of Europe matches the sudden climatic shift of Joseph's famine which
German scientists have now confirmed. The resettlement of Europe also
ties in nicely with such events as the creation of Stonehenge.
And all of these dates agree precisely with the long chronology of
Genesis. The time is approaching when we shall be able to reconstruct
a reasonably detailed history of the past 25,000 years. We are seeing
a major transformation of our understanding of the so-called stone age
and its absurd "cave-man" imagery. We now know these people wore real
clothing, built houses and towns, engaged in agriculture, made vessels
to sail the sea in, played music, painted, and probably had language.
They were, after all, our parents...

Nuclear
magnetic resonance (NMR) is a physical phenomenon based upon the magnetic properties of an atom's nucleus. All nuclei that
contain odd numbers of nucleons and some that contain even numbers of nucleons have an intrinsic magnetic moment. The most
commonly used nuclei are hydrogen-1 and carbon-13, although certain isotopes of many other elements nuclei can also be observed.
NMR studies a magnetic nucleus, like that of a hydrogen atom (protium being the most receptive isotope at natural abundance)
by aligning it with a very powerful external magnetic field and perturbing this alignment using an electromagnetic field.
The response to the field by perturbing is what is exploited in nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and magnetic resonance
imaging.
NMR spectroscopy is one of the principal techniques used to obtain physical, chemical, electronic and structural
information about a molecule. It is the only technique that can provide detailed information on the exact three-dimensional
structure of biological molecules in solution. Also, nuclear magnetic resonance is one of the techniques that has been used
to build elementary quantum computers.

Discovery
Nuclear magnetic resonance was first described independently by Felix Bloch and Edward Mills Purcell, in 1946, both
of whom shared the Nobel Prize in physics in 1952 for their discovery.
Purcell had worked on the development and application
of RADAR during World War II at Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Radiation Laboratory. His work during that project
on the production and detection of radiofrequency energy, and on the absorption of such energy by matter, preceded his discovery
of NMR and probably contributed to his understanding of it and related phenomena.
They noticed that magnetic nuclei,
like 1H and 31P, could absorb RF energy when placed in a magnetic field of a specific strength. When this absorption occurs
the nucleus is described as being in resonance. Interestingly, for analytical scientists, different atoms within a molecule
resonate at different frequencies at a given field strength. The observation of the resonance frequencies of a molecule allows
a user to discover structural information about the molecule.
The development of nuclear magnetic resonance as a technique
of analytical chemistry and biochemistry parallels the development of electromagnetic technology and its introduction into
civilian use. Major NMR makers include Bruker, Varian and JEOL.
Continuous wave (CW) spectroscopy
Throughout
its first few decades, nuclear magnetic resonance practice utilized a technique known as continuous-wave (CW) spectroscopy
in which either the magnetic field was kept constant and the oscillating field was swept in frequency to chart the on-resonance
portions of the spectrum or, more frequently, the oscillating field was held at a fixed frequency and the magnetic field was
swept through the transitions.
CW spectroscopy technique is limited in that it probes each frequency individually,
in succession, which has unfortunate consequences due to the insensitivity of nuclear magnetic resonance�that is to say,
nuclear magnetic resonance suffers from poor signal-to-noise ratio. Fortunately for nuclear magnetic resonance in general,
signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) can be improved by signal averaging. Signal averaging is an algorithm where the signals from many
successive runs of an experiment are added together. The noise, which is random in character, tends to cancel itself out while
the actual signal is constant and additive. Signal averaging increases S/N by the square-root of the number of signals taken.
This is a general principle and not unique to NMR.
Fourier spectroscopy
The technique known as Fourier transform
nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (FT-NMR) decreases the time required for a scan by allowing a range of frequencies
to be probed at once. This technique has been made more practical with two technologies: the knowledge of how to create an
array of frequencies at once and computers capable of performing the computationally-intensive mathematical transformation
of the data from the time domain to the frequency domain to produce a spectrum.
Pioneered by Richard R. Ernst, who
won a Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1991, FT-NMR works by irradiating the sample, held in a static external magnetic field,
with a short square pulse of radiofrequency energy containing all the frequencies in the range of interest because the fourier
decomposition of an approximate square wave contains contributions from all the frequencies in the neighborhood of the principle
frequency.
The polarized nuclear magnets of the nuclei begin to spin together, creating a radio frequency signal that
is observable. However, they ultimately lose alignment and simultaniously decay to the equilibrium state in the magnet of
having a net polarization vector that aligns with the field. This decay is known as the free induction decay (FID). This time-dependent
pattern can be converted into a frequency-dependent pattern of nuclear resonances using a mathematical function known as a
Fourier transformation, revealing the nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum.
Multi-dimensional
The use of pulses
of different shapes, frequencies and durations in specifically-designed patterns or pulse sequences allows the spectroscopist
to extract many different types of information about the molecule.
Multi-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy
is a kind of FT-NMR in which there are at least two pulses and, as the experiment is repeated, the pulse sequence is varied.
In multidimensional nuclear magnetic resonance there will be a sequence of pulses and, at least, one variable time period.
In three dimensions, two time sequences will be varied. In four dimensions, three will be varied.
There are many such
experiments. In one, these time intervals allow�among other things�magnetization transfer between nuclei and, therefore,
the detection of the kinds of nuclear-nuclear interactions that allowed for the magnetization transfer. Interactions that
can be detected are usually classified into two kinds. There are through-bond interactions and through-space interactions.
The latter usually being a consequence of the nuclear Overhauser effect. Experiments of the nuclear-Overhauser variety may
establish distances between atoms.
Richard Ernst and Kurt W�thrich�in addition to many others�developed 2-dimensional
and multidimensional FT-NMR into a powerful technique for studying biochemistry, in particular for the determination of the
structure of biopolymers such as proteins or even small nucleic acids.
This is used in protein nuclear magnetic resonance
spectroscopy. W�thrich shared the 2002 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this work.
Solids
This technique complements
biopolymer X-ray crystallography in that it is frequently applicable to biomolecules in a liquid or liquid crystal phase,
whereas crystallography, as the name implies, is performed on molecules in a solid phase. Though nuclear magnetic resonance
is used to study solids, extensive atomic-level biomolecular structural detail is especially challenging to obtain in the
solid state. There is no signal averaging by thermal motion in the solid state, where molecules are held still, each in a
slightly different electronic environment, giving a different signal. This variation in electronic environment lowers resolution
greatly and makes interpretation more difficult. Raymond Andrew was a pioneer in the development of high-resolution solid-state
nuclear magnetic resonance. He introduced the magic angle spinning (MAS) technique and allowed for an increase in resolution
by several orders of magnitude. In MAS, the sample is averaged by spinning it at several kilohertz.
Alex Pines together
with John Waugh revolutionized the area with the introduction of the cross-polarization technique in order to enhance low
abundance and sensitivity nuclei.
Sensitivity
Because the intensity of nuclear magnetic resonance signals
and, hence, the sensitivity of the technique depends on the strength of the magnetic field the technique has also advanced
over the decades with the development of more powerful magnets. Advances made in audio-visual technology have also improved
the signal-generation and processing capabilities of newer machines.
The sensitivity of nuclear magnetic resonance
signals is also dependent�as noted above�on the presence of a magnetically-susceptible nuclide and, therefore, either
on the natural abundance of such nuclides or on the ability of the experimentalist to artificially enrich the molecules, under
study, with such nuclides. The most abundant naturally-occurring isotopes of hydrogen and phosphorus�for instance�are
both magnetically susceptible and readily useful for nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. In contrast, carbon and nitrogen
have useful isotopes but which occur only in very low natural abundance.
Uses of nuclear magnetic resonance
The most obvious use of nuclear magnetic resonance
is in magnetic resonance imaging for medical diagnosis, however, it is also widely used in chemical studies, notably in NMR
spectroscopy such as proton NMR and carbon-13 NMR.
These studies are possible because nuclei are surrounded by orbiting
electrons, which are also spinning charged particles such as magnets and, so, will partially shield the nuclei. The amount
of shielding depends on the exact local environment. For example, a hydrogen bonded to an oxygen will be shielded differently
than a hydrogen bonded to a carbon atom. In addition, two hydrogen nuclei can interact via a process known as spin-spin coupling,
if they are on the same molecule, which will split the lines of the spectra in a recognisable way.
By studying the
peaks of nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, skilled chemists can determine the structure of many compounds. It can be a very
selective technique, distinguishing among many atoms within a molecule or collection of molecules of the same type but which
differ only in terms of their local chemical environment.
By studying T2* information a chemist can determine the
identity of a compound by comparing the observed nuclear precession frequencies to known frequencies. Further structural data
can be elucidated by observing spin-spin coupling, a process by which the precession frequency of a nucleus can be influenced
by the magnetization transfer from nearby nuclei.
T2 information can give information about dynamics and molecular
motion.
Because the nuclear magnetic resonance timescale is rather slow, compared to other spectroscopic methods,
changing the temperature of a T2* experiment can also give information about fast reactions, such as the Cope rearrangement
or about structural dynamics, such as ring-flipping in cyclohexane.
A relatively recent example of nuclear magnetic
resonance being used in the determination of a structure is that of buckminsterfullerene. This now famous form of carbon has
60 carbon atoms forming a sphere. The carbon atoms are all in identical environments and so should see the same internal H
field. Unfortunately, buckminsterfullerene contains no hydrogen and so 13C nuclear magnetic resonance has to be used, and
is a more difficult form of nuclear magnetic resonance to do. However in 1985 the spectrum was obtained by R. Curl and R.
Smalley of Rice University and sure enough it did contain just the one single spike, confirming the unusual structure of C60.
Nuclear magnetic resonance is extremely useful for analyzing samples non-destructively. Radio waves and static magnetic
fields easily penetrate many types of matter and anything that is not inherently ferromagnetic. For example, various expensive
biological samples, such as nucleic acids, including RNA and DNA, or proteins, can be studied using nuclear magnetic resonance
for weeks or months before using destructive biochemical experiments. This also makes nuclear magnetic resonance a good choice
for analyzing dangerous samples.
Another use for nuclear magnetic resonance is data acquisition in the petroleum industry
for petroleum and natural gas exploration and recovery. A borehole is drilled into rock and sedimentary strata into which
nuclear magnetic resonance logging equipment is lowered. Nuclear magnetic resonance analysis of these boreholes is used to
measure rock porosity, estimate permeability from pore size distribution and identify pore fluids (water, oil and gas).
NMR
has now entered the arena of real-time process control and process optimization in oil refineries and petrochemical plants.
Two different types of NMR analysis are utilized to provide real time analysis of feeds and products in order to control and
optimize unit operations. Time-domain NMR (TD-NMR) spectrometers operating at low field (2-20 MHz for 1H) yield free induction
decay data that can be used to determine absolute hydrogen content values, rheological information, and component composition.
These spectrometers are used in mining, polymer production, cosmetics and food manufacturing as well as coal analysis. High
resolution FT-NMR spectrometers operating in the 60 MHz range with shielded permanent magnet systems yield high resolution
1H NMR spectra of refinery and petrochemical streams. The variation observed in these spectra with changing physical and chemical
properties is modelled utilizing chemometrics to yield predictions on unknown samples. The prediction results are provided
to control systems via analogue or digital outputs from the spectrometer.

I am going to attempt to answer the question why
regarding the caves of life on this terrestrial
planet Earth, and its relationship to the universe.
I would like to start by explaining how and why the
Earth
has survived 3.5 to 4.6 billion years, though
out the age of Earth. Earth's age is not a necessary
factor. All the
known elements that man has identified
can not carry enough energy to sustain an atomic
reaction at the Earth core
for that many years
There is another latent element, I will call this
element Crytrillium.
Crytrillium is
a superconductor of electrical energy
of unlimited dimensions. It's the building block of
the universe, no star system
can be formed, no planets
with livable environment can exist, without Crytrillium
at their core.
Crytrillium
at the Earth's core gets its renewable
energy from lightning, When lightning sticks the
ground with tremendous magnitude
of electrical current
surges down. It travails into the Earth's depths, to
the core, the Crytrillium absorbs this
electrical
energy to it fullest capacity, then the Crytrillium
expels this energy a million folds to create the
atomic
reaction of nuclear fission at the Earth's core.
The heat generated from this nuclear fission gives the
terrestrial
planet Earth its livable temperature and
other elements for life itself, such as the magnetic
force that bonds biomolecule
cells to gathering to
form plants and animals.

electrical energy back up in the earth's highest

atmosphere. The rest of the cloud will continue to
become electrically charge.
When the electricity reaches
the lowest point of the
cloud, That point becomes a spark gag between the
clouds and the ground giving way to a lightning
discharge of exstemly high electrical energy.

A genuine crackpot responds
Every time that someone such as myself discovers
a revolutionary
theory we're automatically branded CRACKPOT. This is not surprising.
The scientific establishment
has much to lose. That's why they send
out their Inquisitors, like Mr. Nettles. But let us not be deterred,
my fellow
revolutionaries. We are in good company. Gallileo was
persecuted too. Einstein was ridiculed too. It's rather ironic that
it
was the Nazis who attacked Einstein. The scientific establishment has
become much like the Nazis. It's a shame
that Einstein was so wrong.
At least he conceeded that quantum theory was wrong.
Of course the scientific establishment
will deny this. Label us
CRACKPOTS. Today's quantum theory is little more than a series of ad
hoc epicycles introduced
to save a failed theory. Not that Newton's
theories were any better. Consider the following thought experiment.
Take
two objects of equal surface area but different mass and drop
them from a great height. According to Newton these objects
will fall
at the same rate. This is nonsensical.
Luckily my ETHER THEORY correctly predicts that the objects will
fall
at different rates. That's the beauty of it--it unifies all the forces
of nature. I arrived at my theory soon
after I graduated with my BS in
physics. Although I deserve a Nobel Prize I know I will not receive
one simply because
my name isn't followed by Ph.D. I expect to be
ridiculed for my theory, as I have been in the past. This simply
proves
that I'm right. In conclusion I'd just like to say that I
always lie.

RE: PLUTONIUM
Plutonium (IPA: /ˌplu˘°ˈtəʊniəm/)
is a radioactive, metallic chemical element. It has the symbol Pu and the atomic number 94. It is the element used in most
modern nuclear weapons. The most important isotope of plutonium is 239Pu, with a half-life of 24,110 years. It can be made
from natural uranium and is fissile. The most stable isotope is 244Pu, with a half-life of about 80 million years, long enough
to be found in extremely small quantities in nature. In fact 244Pu is the heaviest atom naturally occurring in traces on the
Earth's crust.

Plutonium has been called "the
most complex metal" and "a physicist's dream but an engineer's nightmare"[1] for its peculiar physical and chemical properties.
It has six allotropes normally and a seventh under pressure, each of which have very similar energy levels but with significantly
varying densities, making it very sensitive to changes in temperature, pressure, or chemistry, and allowing for dramatic volume
changes following phase transitions (in nuclear applications, it is usually alloyed with small amounts of gallium, which stabilizes
it in the delta-phase.)[2] Plutonium is silvery in pure form, but has a yellow tarnish when oxidized. It is also notable in
that it possesses a low-symmetry structure causing it to become progressively more brittle over time. [3] Because it self-irradiates,
it ages both from the outside-in and the inside-out.[2] However, self-irradiation can also lead to annealing which counteracts
some of the aging effects. In general, the precise aging properties of plutonium are very complex and poorly understood, greatly
complicating efforts to predict future reliability of weapons components.
The heat given off by alpha particle emission
makes plutonium warm to the touch in reasonable quantities; larger amounts can boil water. [citation needed] It displays five
ionic oxidation states in aqueous solution:
PuIII, as Pu3+ (blue lavender)
PuIV, as Pu4+ (yellow brown)
PuVI,
as PuO22+ (pink orange)
PuV, as PuO2+ (thought to be pink; this ion is unstable in solution and will disproportionate
into Pu4+ and PuO22+; the Pu4+ will then oxidize the remaining PuO2+ to PuO22+, being reduced in turn to Pu3+. Thus, aqueous
solutions of plutonium tend over time towards a mixture of Pu3+ and PuO22+.) [4]
PuVII, as PuO52- (dark red); the heptavalent
ion is rare and prepared only under extreme oxidizing conditions.
The actual color shown by Pu solutions depends on both
the oxidation state and the nature of the acid anion, which influences the degree of complexing of the Pu species by the acid
anion. [5]
Applications
The isotope 239Pu is a key fissile component in nuclear weapons, due to its ease of
fissioning and availability. The critical mass for an unreflected sphere of plutonium is 16 kg, but through the use of a neutron-reflecting
tamper the pit of plutonium in a fission bomb is reduced to 10 kg, which is a sphere with a diameter of 10 cm. The Manhattan
Project "Fat Man" type plutonium bombs, using explosive compression of Pu to significantly higher densities than normal, were
able to function with plutonium cores of only 6.2 kg.[6] Complete detonation of plutonium will produce an explosion equivalent
to the explosion of 20 kilotons of trinitrotoluene (TNT) per kilogram.[citation needed] (See also nuclear weapon design.)
However, complete detonation requires an additional neutron source (often from a small amount of fusion fuel), and primitive
bombs may be far less efficient. For example, despite the 6.2 kg of plutonium, the Fat Man yield was only 21 kt.
Plutonium
could also be used to manufacture radiological weapons or as a radiologic poison. In a number of instances damaged nuclear
weapons have spread plutonium over a surrounding area, similar to the effect of a so-called "dirty bomb", and required extensive
cleanup. On the other hand, 5 kg of plutonium was spread over the Nagasaki area (due to incomplete fission) and never cleaned
up. The toxicity of plutonium is in dispute; nuclear industry advocates point to the low chemical toxicity of plutonium and
ability of a worker to hold a kilogram brick of the material without protection; if inhaled or digested, however, plutonium's
effects due to radioactivity overwhelm the effects of plutonium's chemical interactions with the body, and the LD50 dose drops
to the order of 5ug/kg. The insistence on both sides of the issue of plutonomium's safety/deadliness casts questions on the
current habitability of areas that have been exposed to nuclear warfare and on the health of the current residents.
The
plutonium isotope 238Pu is
an alpha emitter with a half-life of 87 years.
These characteristics make it well
suited for electrical power generation for devices which must function without direct maintenance for timescales approximating
a human lifetime. It is therefore used in radioisotope thermoelectric generators such as those powering the Cassini and New
Horizons (Pluto) space probes; earlier versions of the same technology powered seismic experiments on the Apollo Moon missions.
238Pu has been used successfully to power artificial heart pacemakers,
to reduce the risk of repeated surgery.
It has been largely replaced by Lithium based primary cells, but as of
2003
there were somewhere between 50
and 100 plutonium-powered pacemakers still implanted and functioning in living patients.

Interview From "The Metaphysical Experience"

The Philadelphia
experiment originally began back in the 1930's in Chicago with three people. Dr. John Hutchinson Sr., who was the Dean of
the University of Chicago, Nickola Tesla, and Dr. Kurtenaur, who was an Austrian physicist who was on staff at the University.
They decided to do something with the speculation regarding the concept of things and people being invisible. This
subject had been discussed for several year. They got together and did some research at the University of Chicago around 1931
or 1932. In 1933 the Institute of Advanced Studies at Princeton was formed and the project was transferred there in 1934.
One of the people on staff at the Institute was Dr. John Erich Von Neumann, who was from Budapest Hungary. He got his degree
in chemistry in 1925 and his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1926. He taught in Europe for about four years and transferred to the
United States. He taught at the graduate level for three years and was invited to join the Institute.
Other people
at the Institute included Albert Einstein, who left Germany in 1930. He went to the California Institute of Technology for
three years and taught there and then went to the Institute upon their invitation and acceptance. A lot of other people showed
up there as time went on. The project expanded about 1936. In the meantime, Tesla was named director of the project. He was
a friend of president Franklin Roosevelt, whom Tesla met in 1917 when FDR was secretary of the Navy.
Tesla was asked
at that time to do some work for the government for the war effort, which he did. He accepted and became director of the invisibility
project until he resigned in 1942. In 1936, after intensive study, they decided to have an initial test of their work. They
achieved some partial invisibility. The Navy and everyone else was encouraged to continue the work, and the Navy supplied
money for research.
Scientists were coming to the United States from Germany until 1939, when the war with Germany
was started.
In 1940, after research using Tesla's approach, they decided they were ready for a full test at the Brooklyn
Navy Yard. They had a small ship and a tender ship at each side. One ship provided the power and the other supplied the drive
for the coils. They were tendered to the test ship by cables. The idea was that if anything went wrong they could cut the
cables or sink the test ship. Everything worked and the project was declared a success.
The important point about
the 1940 test is that there was no one on board the test vehicle. It was strictly a dry run with no people. This is important
because of what happened later. Other people came on board. Thomas T. Brown joined the project because of his expertise in
electrogravity effects. He had the task of solving the problem of the German magnetic mines that were affecting allied shipping
and Naval efforts. This led into a parallel project which involved the use of deguising coils and cables to explode the mines
at a distance from the ship.
The Navy wanted several people to keep an eye on the tests. That is how I got involved.
Keeping technical commentaries. Let's look at Nickola Tesla.
In 1879 his father died and his first year at college
ended. He came to the United States in1884. He had enormously intuitive insight. He had a perfect track record. Before coming
to the US he had known Robert Oppenheimer, who later worked with the development of the atomic bomb, and Dr. David Hilbert,
the mathematician who devised equations for Hilbert Space, which described multiple space or multiple realities mathematically.
These equations for multiple space became very important in the project. Dr. von Neumann met Hilbert in 1927 and retained
a lot of what he had learned. With that, Von Neumann developed other new systems of mathematics. Von Neumann was considered
to be one of the most outstanding mathematicians in this century. Some think he was better than Einstein. Another mathematician
involved was Dr. John Levinson, who was born in 1912. He died in 1976. He published three books on mathematics. Levinson developed
the so-called Levinson Time Equations. with all this behind them, the group had all they needed to proceed with the project.
After the successful 1940 test, the Navy decided to give the project unlimited funds and to classify the project.
In 1942 Tesla was given a ship and a crew for a full sized test. Tesla got a battleship. Tesla and Von Neumann didn't agree
on some things. Tesla insisted that they were going to have a very severe problem with personnel. Tesla wanted more time but
the NAVY wouldn't agree. Tesla made periodic announcements in the late 1930's and early 1940's about his contact with off
planet species. He was in contact with the outside, who agreed that there was a problem with the people. He decided to sabotage
the 1942 test in an attempt to stop the project. He de-tuned the equipment so nothing would work. The test failed. Tesla then
turned the project over to Von Neumann in March 1942 and left the project.
Von Neumann went to the Navy and requested
time to study the problem to determine what had gone wrong. Von Neumann decided to make changes in some of the equipment.
He decided he would need a special ship that was designed from the ground up. The Eldridge was selected. The equipment was
built into the ship. They put all the equipment on the ship. October 1942 arrived. They selected 33 volunteers for the crew,
who arrived after graduation in December 1942. We still have a picture of the class.
After the ship was out of drydock
work began. In May of 1943 von Neumann installed a third generator. It would never synchronize with the other two. It went
out of control one day and zapped one of the men. Von Neumann pulled out the third generator (installed because Tesla had
convinced Von Neumann of the potential problem with people) and went back to the original design. In mid June, the ship had
sea trials. On July 22, 1943, they had the test. The ship between radar and optically invisible. They discovered people very
disoriented. The Navy pulled the crew off and consulted Von Neumann, who requested more time again from the Navy. The Navy,
after consultation with higher-ups, announced that the drop dead date was on the 12th of August, 1943. Von Neumann voiced
his concern that it wasn't enough time.
The Navy decided that it just wanted radar invisibility and not optical invisibility.
The equipment was again modified by Von Neumann. August 12th arrived. We knew things were not right. The test began, and for
about a minute everything was all right. The ships outline could be seen in the water. There was suddenly a blue flash and
the ship disappeared entirely. No radio communication was possible. It was gone. In about three hours it came back. One of
the masts was broken.
Some personnel were partially embedded in the steel deck. Others were fading in and out. Some
disappeared entirely. Many were insane. The Navy extracted the crew and proceeded with four days of meetings to decided what
to do about the problem. They decided there would be one more test with another dry run without personnel. They conducted
the dry run using about 1000 feet of cable attached to another ship. In late October 1943 the test occurred. The ship disappeared
for about 20 minutes. When it returned, they found equipment missing. Two transmitter cabinets and one generator was missing.
The cabinet with the zero-time reference generator was intact. At that point, the Navy stripped the ship and stopped the project.
The Eldridge served in the war and was turned over to Greece at the end of the war.
The important thing is that there
were two tests that were exactly 40 years apart to the day. It was a 40 year separation in hyperspace. Now, the Earth itself
has a biorhythm that peaks on a 20 year cycle on August 12th. It "just happened" to peak and provided the connecting link
through the fields of the Earth for the two experiments to lock up in hyperspace. Walk-in efforts are aided if they occur
during this peak.
The ship was pulled into hyperspace. We were inside the ship and knew something was drastically
wrong with the test. We tried to shut it off but it wouldn't shut off. We ran out on deck and jumped over the side of the
ship. We jumped overboard but ended up in a time tunnel which ended at Montauk, Long Island on August 12th, 1983. At night.
We were found very quickly and taken down stairs, where Von Neumann greeted us. He expected us. It was a bit of a
shock. We had just been in 1943 and now we were in 1983 looking at Von Neumann as an old man. He said that there was a hyperspace
lockup and that we had to go back and shut off the generators on the ship or the hyperspace rift would keep increasing and
possibly engulf the planet. He had been waiting 40 years for us to arrive.
Montauk sent us back and we smashed the
equipment with axes. The ship returned to its original point in space and about three hours later in time. From 1943 on, Von
Neumann didn't know what happened. He had modified earlier equipment in 1943 to where he had a full blown time machine. The
Germans also were working on time travel, and had it working in 1945 just before the end of the war. This is all a matter
of record.
After the Navy decided to shut down the project in 1943, Von Neumann was sent to work on the atomic bomb
project at Los Alamos until that was over. In 1947 there were major changes in the Department of Defense. Someone in the new
structure decided to dig up the Philadelphia project to see if they could find out what went wrong. They asked Von Neumann
to "take another look" at the project. He agreed.
There is another matter. Starting about August 6th, 1943, UFOs appeared
over the Eldridge for about six days. They were there during the test. One of the UFOs was sucked up into hyperspace with
the Eldridge and it ended up in an underground facility in Montauk in 1983. It contained a charging device which some aliens
made us go back and get for them, as they didn't want humans to have it. We don't know who they were. Pruett was concerned
about an alien invasion.
Also, Von Neumann was called by the government to come and assist in the examination of a
crashed UFO in 1947 at Aztec. Another crash occurred at Aztec about a year later. The first crash had greys on it and none
survived. At least one occupant survived the second crash. The radar systems unintentionally brought down the craft. Radar
was used intentionally after that until the aliens got wise to it.
The occupant of the second crash was not a grey,
and Von Neumann got to talk with it. Von Neumann asked it what the answer to the invisibility problems could be. He learned
that he had to go back and do his homework in metaphysics. The nature of the problem was that the personnel on the ship were
not locked to the zerotime reference of the ship. Humans are normally locked to the point of conception as a time reference,
not a zero-time reference. The time stream lock allows the person to flow in synch with the system so interaction is possible.
Time locks are fragile. All the power of the project disrupted the time-locks of the people on the deck on the ship.
When the ship came back in time, the people didn't come back to the same reference.
Von Neumann realized that he needed
a computer, as well as some knowledge of metaphysics in order to be able to lock the time reference of the people to the time
reference of the ship. He built a computer in 1950 for the purpose. It was ready to be installed in 1952 and a test was performed
in 1953 that was successful. They didn't go floating off into space when it was over. At this point, the Navy canceled Project
Rainbow and changed the name to project Phoenix.
Alot came out of the negative effects of the Rainbow project. Some
of it led to mind control research programs in the Phoenix project. The invisibility research produced some Stealth technology
as well as other highly classified projects.
In 1983, they decided to apply mind control to all participants in these
projects in an effort to cover them up. They had also been working on another project: age regression. Now, Tesla had sought
back in the 1940's to develop equipment that could help the members of the crew after they lost time-lock . The government
developed it into the age regression program. It was physical age regression. A person retained the memory they had from the
older age.
Tesla's theory was that if you took the individual's time-lock and moved it forward in time than you would
remove aging. That's what happened. It took between 30 and 60 days for the body to complete the change to the new time reference.
When our astronauts first landed on the moon in 1969 they were greeted by a fleet of disks sitting on the rim of a
crater. The astronauts asked their superiors if they knew about these disks. They were told "yes", that they were American
disks. The astronauts were angry at being used as public relations men by the government.
Well, the aircraft combines
two aspects for invisibility. One of the aspects relates to the construction and coating applied to the surface. The other
aspect relates to an electronic type of invisibility package which is a result of work done on the Philadelphia experiment
years ago. Also, the stealth has a secondary drive system which is very advanced and allows it to fly in space. The assistant
director of NASA admitted that this came straight out of alien technology. He admitted this to the public.
There are
breaks in the government secrecy programs that are starting to show up. More and more people are getting totally disgusted
with government activities and attitudes and they are beginning to talk.
The Phoenix Project was a project that evolved
out of the Philadelphia Project. It was a project that the Navy did in the 1930's and 1940's in an attempt to make ships invisible.
They threw the switch one eventful day and the ship went into hyperspace. They had all sorts of problems with the people on
the boat. It was a huge success as well as a huge failure - then they shelved it. Around 1947 it was decided to re-activate
the project and it was moved to Brookhaven National Laboratories with Dr. John Von Neumann and his associates. Out of Phoenix
I came Stealth technology. It also produced all sorts of energetic little toys like the radiosonde.

The radiosonde
was a little white box that they attached to a balloon and sent up into the atmosphere. The government told people that it
involved gathering weather data. It used a very unusual type of pulse modulation. In most cases they used a CW (continuous
wave) oscillator and pulsed the signal. This turned out to be a very efficient conversion of electrical energy to etheric
energy. They were designed up at Brookhaven National Labs. I started to talk to people at Brookhaven and ran into a retired
gentleman who used to work there. He told me that the design was originally done by Wilhelm Reich.
The story goes
that in about 1947 Wilhelm Reich handed the US Government a weather control device, a device that would do DOR-busting. Reich
thought that if he could decrease the amount of DOR that storms would not be so violent. (DOR is the result of orgone energy
coming into contact with an enclosed radioactive source). Deadly Orgone Energy is DOR. The government sent the device up into
a storm and it did reduce the intensity of the storm. They worked.
The Montauk Project was a combination of Wilhelm
Reich's work and the Philadelphia Experiment. There were two separate projects going on in Phoenix One. You had the invisibility
aspect and you had the development of Wilhelm Reich's weather control. Toward the end of the Phoenix project, by using some
of Wilhelm Reich's concepts and some of the transmission schemes used from the "radiosonde" project, they found that you could
combine the two -factors and use them for 'Mind Control'.
The people who were running it went to the military and
proposed that they could use it to "influence the minds of the enemy". The military loved the idea, and let them use the old
Montauk Air Force Base. Among the equipment requested was an old SAGE radar unit, which was on the base. The base was shut
down and everything was auctioned off. The group then moved in from the Brookhaven Labs. That began what we call Phoenix Two.
They spent the first ten years from about 1969 to about 1979, researching pure mind control.
The first part of the
mind control project was to take an individual and stand them about 250 feet away from the antenna. The SAGE radar had a peak
pulse power of .5 MW. The antenna had a gain of 30db. That means an effective radiated power of at least a gigawatt. It was
nominally a gigawatt. Can you imagine what that would do to people? I think its amazing these people are still here. It does
things like burn out brain functions, create neurological damage, scar lungs from heat, etc. They tried this with a number
of people and there were few survivors. The subjects were often indigent people they grabbed off the streets.
The
project was controlled by Dr. John Von Neumann and Jack Pruett. About 30 people worked there. It was a joint project...Air
Force & Navy. Original funding came from the Nazi government funds. In 1944 there was an American troop train that went
through a French railroad tunnel carrying $10 billion in Nazi gold which they had found.
It was $10 billion at the
1944 price of $20 per ounce. The train was blown up in the tunnel. It killed 51 American soldiers. The gold turned up ten
years later at Montauk. This has been verified. That money was used to finance the project for many years as the value of
gold went up.
They spent all of it and ran out of money. That's when they tapped on ITT, who funded it. ITT was owned
by Krupp in Germany. In terms of personnel, many of the civilians and scientists there were all ex-Nazi's who came from Germany
both before and after the war ended.
The project was under US Government surveillance. The intelligence community
knew what was going on and the CIA monitored everything, as did other government intelligence agencies. The field of players
who actually operated on the base was small, between 30 and 50.
The funding was entirely private. After 1983, Senator
Goldwater found out about it and started an investigation. He couldn't find any trace of government funding. Pruett was the
metaphysical director of the project. He was Air Force. After he left Dr. Herman C. Untermann took over. They had an electronics
expert, Dr. Mathew E. Zerrett, who came over from Germany in 1946 with Werhner von Braun. Probably the reason that they ran
out of money is that they had a total of 25 bases around the United States to support. The last of the bases shut down August
12, 1983. The base at Montauk, where all the stations got their zero-time reference from, shut down and the other two remaining
bases went down with it.
Other experiments included time travel. No one has picked up a tangible future beyond 2012
AD. There is a very abrupt wall there with nothing on the other side. A working time vortex was created to the future.
At
one point a creature came through and everyone went into a panic. They shut the transmitter off. The creature ate people and
equipment. They had to go back and shut down the unit in Philadelphia in order to shut off the unit in the future so they
could stop this creature in 1983. This was on August 12,1983. The vortex locked on to the 12 August 1943 test and formed a
loop.
